GTA IV Viral Marketing Begins

Got a nice tip that some viral marketing is going on for GTA IV. It appears some posters have cropped up in various areas across the country. They look like traditional Wanted posters, but features GTA IV characters.

Hit this link to see the first three.

A bit lame IMO. Almost too obvious to even be viral.

Wonder if anyone's going to end up getting turned in because of these?

True, but the world is full of stupid people who'd see something like this and think "Reward money!!" without thinking anything else.

Call them non-traditional marketing, there is not much viral there.

I laughed at the comment on her site, "Viral marketing is my favorite kind of marketing." Mine too, it's the easiest to ignore!

But isn't it viral?

From Wiki:
>>Viral marketing is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message voluntarily.[2] Viral promotions may take the form of video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, images, or even text messages.<<

Either way, it's kind of cool

Oh man, did you guys read the descriptions of the crimes/criminals on the posters? Funny stuff there, some snide political(ish) commentary. This just made me care about GTA4 again.

But we're only discussing this because it's in relation to GTAIV, not because there's anything uniquely compelling about the poster.

Edit: On second thought, because the poster isn't explicitly advertising GTA, I guess it's intended to be viral. They just don't seem that interesting.

On a tangent note, in Atlanta, there's a building with a side wall painted black and covered with the IV design.
