They're criminals in the sense of being oligarchic, repressive communists, not in the sense of forced labor at Foxconn factories :P

Easy job, but it gets too damn repetitive and fast. Your openings change every few months and your closing must have your companies name said at least 3 times. In a job like that all you had to do is lie to people.

I guess you don't care about currency manipulation then.

The currency manipulation they're doing is actually benefiting us. When you refuse to let your currency slide up against the dollar, you're in essence subsidizing every American purchase of your country's product. They figure they just don't want to deal with the loss of business it would cause them, but it's costing them real money.

Nice dodge yourself but not quite. They manipulate currency to purchase debt other countries bought off us when the dollar was strong while keeping their currency artifically low so they can force more american companies to take out loans from weathier countries to begin the cycle again.

That's how they kept the dollar strong, BY purchasing our debt. You realize that right? Not sure how you draw a line between that and american companies taking out loans from wealthier countries.

Basically, if they let the yuan float then Chinese exports would appear more expensive to American buyers and Chinese profits once converted into Yuan would be proportionally lessened (Japanese companies regularly take hits when the dollar weakens against the yen in similar fashion).

China would really like to keep exporting to us and keep their fledgling manufacturing sector going, so by buying our debt and propping up our currency they are quite literally subsidizing American purchases of Chinese goods by the difference that the Yuan slide would have produced without Chinese action on debt purchases.

Does this somehow make them criminal in your mind?

It's economic hard-ball is what it is. Not sure it ranks into criminality.

True but it gives me plenty of time to surf the net, read EvAv, write reviews, etc So there are some incentives.

Yea there are some nice paying jobs out there in some cases. if I was a little younger and I was in good physical shape I might have considered something along those lines but my fat butt can't really spend a full eight hour shift walking back and forth carrying dishes and such. If I were you I'd hold onto that one as long as you can, the money seems awesome.

Currency manipulation is criminal, but there is no way to hold an entire country accountable without going to war with them. It's what the bushes ended up doing over oil prices. China doesn't hold US dollars, they hold our debt which they can turn around and change into franks or pounds or euros in a heartbeat. Instead they launder it back into chinese currency which they manipulate to keep low so there's more of it in circulation without running the risk of hyperinflation. Then when the US dollar hits rock bottom they demand the US repay their debts in Yuan and the trap gets sprung.

Well no, I don't. But then again, I have never been there. I can only imagine.

That's not how debt works. They'd have to go to war to enforce such a demand, and they'd be laughed at internationally for making it.

Who's been filling your head with this nonsense?

The end of the road for piling on too much debt in a country is always a currency devaluation, and that's always characterized by the country printing barrels-full of new currency and using that to pay their debts off. This influx of massive amounts of new money then makes all other money less valuable due to supply and demand (printing money ratchets up supply and thereby also lessening demand because demand gets filled faster, thus the price or value of the currency plummets).

What we need is an uninflateable currency, something like Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency controlled by no government, in which printing new currency is literally impossible, making it the first inherently stable currency in existence and practically destining it for future adoption.

It will be the national currency of Atlantis :P

I know I mentioned that. Since you can only see the black and white of the equation we might as well play a game of chess instead.

It's a trap for a reason, the real game is who gets to spring it because traps can also be used against their creators. In your rush to start playing your keyboard like a grand piano with long winded definitions, the delicious bits such as motive and controversy are completely being ignored. It's why you don't get much of a reply from me because here you are lecturing me about why a bishop can only move on diagonal when I'm twiddling my thumbs 6 moves ahead growing bored to tears so please stop trying to drag conversations out with semantics.

You're lucky I was enjoying a delicious Malbec which stretched my evening into the wee hours of the morning and left me just slightly lucid enough to let this conversation go as far as it went, but you do have my thanks for providing a wonderful sleeping aid.
