Beyond Good & Evil 2 Still in Development

Ubisoft's Michel Ancel has confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, but there is no word of a release date.

Quote:
In an interview at the Toulouse Game Show in France, Ancel spoke at length about the new Rayman game, his thoughts on DRM, and finally, on Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Ancel said that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is in development, but the studio can't announce any release date because they don't want to make any promises they can't keep.

"We are in an active creation stage and at this moment we are only focusing on the game and making it the best game that we can," he said. "That decision would just distracts us from that objective. I can say that it's a very ambitious game and we need some tech to achieve that ambition."

This means that it's most likely a next generation game, or maybe a WiiU game?

If it ever comes out, I'll be surprised.

I don't understand the love of the first game. It was very mediocre. It did many things, but none of them exceptionally well.

Game journalist love to use it in their video games are art arguments. They figure if they can convince people video games are art then writing for IGN becomes the equivalent of writing for the NY Times.

I agree. It tried too hard and ended up feeling forced, and ultimately annoying. For me, the overly-quirky and offbeat characters were the game's downfall; I just didn't like them. There was no reason the main character's uncle needed to be a giant talking pig, except perhaps the game designers trying to be "different."

But I suppose I just didn't "get it" or something like that.

For year I've argued BG&E, even the name is off topic, was a cartoony title of overhype and decent ideas. FOR YEARS. I am glad some people finally agree with me. I shall dub thee: People who actually played the game.

I've played the game. First on gamecube when it came out, then on PC when it was cheap, and then again on Xbox 360. I think its a wonderful little title. Its not a masterpiece, but it does many more things right than it does wrong and the style was incredible. I wish more games had a photography element.

I liked the game enough. You could do much worse. I'd prefer Ancel work on a sequel to BG&E than bang out another Rayman game.

I hated the game mechanic changes on the end boss. It nearly ruined the entire, otherwise enjoyable, game.
