Hey there guys! Just wondering if anyone can suggest a good CPU temp monitoring program for my Asus G73Sw laptop. After playing the Guild Wars 2 beta this weekend, this thing was heating up to the point of just shutting down, so I've gotta do a clean out on it and I just wanted to take some marks of before/after temps (to make sure that's the problem). Haven't ever needed one of these programs so I just thought I'd come here for thoughts ^_^

Thanks again guys, I tried out HWmonitor, since after reading through the stuff on MSIAfterburner it looked like it only took reading on the GPU, and I'm more concerned about the CPU. At least going off of Syl's readings it looks like I'm running a bit hot (idle at about 40, but just went into Mass Effect 3 and it would hit about 85). Going to do a clean out on my day off and see if that helps... Thinking the thermal paste probably needs replacement too (did some research and this seems like a common problem?), just going to have to wait for my day off. Should have brought some compressed air with me here lol, but I think I know where I can buy some anyways.
The strange thing is that Asus G73Sw has separate fans for the CPU and GPU, and while the CPU fan will kick in, the GPU seems to only run at about 30% (my guess), even when hitting 85 degrees... Though I think I read somewhere that it has to reach 90 for it to kick over... I think.

Different parts run hotter than other parts. Post up your HWmonitor and what are your parts? You can use CPU-Z (Also from www.cpuid.com) to get all of your motherboard parts.
On my HWmonitor, for example, the one that says "CPU" is actually the motherboard chipset, the processor itself is shown in the 4 "cores". Also that is shown with my new HD 7850 which runs unbelievably quiet and cold, my old ATI HD 4870 used to idle at 50c and hit 90c+ at load.
The 4 WDCs in my picture are all hardrives, i didn't realize that i only had western digital harddrives left, interesting that all my seagates apparently failed.
Also laptops are designed for and generally run MUCH hotter than desktops. I'm sure there's something in the bios or a setting somewhere that will allow you to get the fans to turn on earlier than they currently do.
Alright, just an update here before I head out to buy my cleaning supplies heh. This is just a sort of standard morning for me, some ME3, some LoL, chatting and what have you. I'm a little worried about that 91 on my GPU, but I guess we'll see how things go. (Also I misidentified which side my GPU was on after reading a quick case opening of this laptop, so it isn't the CPU that is pumping out the heat, which makes a lot more sense considering it is when I'm gaming... Was kinda confused about that ^_^)
