Rayman Legends is shown working with certain figures resting on the Wii U's
tablet controller. Presumably, this will add Skylanders-like functionality to the
beautiful brawling sequel to last year's best platformer.
Rayman Origins is the best platformer I've played in years.
100% agreed. Whether playing single-player or co-op, the RO is just an absolute joy to play. Legends will definitely get picked up by me.
Kind of curious about the Skylanders-like functionality available on the Wii-U version. Will it try to work with any toy or character to see if it can recognize it, or does it have to be something specifically branded for this game? That AC collectible figurine didn't look like something they'd be manufacturing specifically for a Rayman release. Makes me wonder if they might try doing something similar on 360 using Kinect and PS3 using the Eye.

my money's on the latter. "any toy" would mean nothing, while specifically branded toys(action figures) would mean extra profit for everyone involved.(platform holders, publishers, 3rd-party toy manufacturers and retailers.) So Kinect & eye toy integration is no-brainer.
So I just played more of Origins last night and got past the wind levels and on to the sliding ice one. DAMN THIS GAME IS HARD!!! I was literally retrying some sections 30+ times in a row just to get the huge gold coins, and even after doing that, I STILL would come up just a dozen or so lums shy of the second pink thing, let alone GOLD.
I still love the game, but if the sequel isn't easier, I'll pass. It's Dark Souls all over again in colorful platformer format.
