Miyamoto Would Like To Make A "Link to the Past" Sequel
Miyamoto was talking to Edge Magazine when he dropped this awesome one liner:

I think the answer would be the same if we're talking about just porting," he said, "but I think I'd be even more interested in creating something new maybe based on, or starting from, A Link To The Past. I think it's important to bring some really new software.
Sounds like a plan to me man. A new Zelda game is always welcomed.
Fuck the link to the past sequel, the biggest news on that article is that Wii-U F-ZERO SEQUEL
F-Zero with 30 person online races? Holy fuck would that be the best thing ever.
Or kiss his twin sister, damn, different universe.... ummm ok, I got this, oh, as long as he doesn't topple over the Great Deku tree and breaks it in half so we dont have a Ocarina of Time...

How about something completely new Miyamoto? The last time you did that was 10 years ago (Pikmin)..... and it was wonderful.
That's a good point. Pikmin was creative, original, and fun. If anything Nintendo could play the Disney card and tap into Japanese folk lore / fair tales but they are too "proud" of their own brand to really branch out much.

NO.
I don't get how zelda fans, and I'm not saying this is you, don't get that there was no plan for zelda until like 3 years ago. There is no story. No matter how much they want to read into it adn try to create some lord of the rings-like lore... it doesn't exist.
Also, I think Miyamoto meant more a sequel interms of gameplay. I think he knows that the game split off at Zelda 64 and then churned ou tthe same game over and over again. He's kind of said as much. It's probably really ahrd to do something new when people keep saying you made the greatest videogame of all time. (I don't agree. Or maybe I do, but it's not Zelda 64)
^ Yeah LOZ is not known for its story continuation, its all over the place. Im thinking a top down zelda, which would be cool. Oracle of ages was so good.

I have been saying this for years now, for Zelda to be new to the gaming market, and become fresh again needs to go mature and grittier. The kiddiness is fine and all, but we have played that game in a different glass how many times now. Go mature and break new grounds.
I think Zelda has the perfect realm for this. Sure I know there are the people that will say (with a nasally voice) "grittier isnt always better". I get that, but when your franchise has been so timid in the past, grittier is breaking new grounds. We will be able to connect to Link in better ways.
Have a true bad guy. Ganondorf is fine and dandy, but make him a real bad guy. Make him kill someone. He is like Bowser, you can steal the princess a million and one times, but really, all you get is a headache. Do something EVIL for a change.
That is just my opinion tho. It will probably never see the light of day but hell, I can wish can't I.
