EA has been accused of stealing the Baneblade and Bonecruncha tank designs from Warhammer 40K, and using them in Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances.

Could it be true that EA are copying tank models from Warhammer 40k for use in its browser-based real-time strategy game Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances?
A group of Reddit users noticed that several of the tanks from C&C Tiberium Alliances appeared to copy a number of models from the Warhammer 40k universe that is famously owned by Games Workshop, who have a track record of law suits against projects that use any of its content without permission.
Wow, the 2nd tank in the linked article is even more blatant. The Baneblade is at least vaguely arguable as being just a generic big ass chunky tank. Still, even the Baneblade is a clear copy, but that other one, man.

Holy crap! I agree, the first one might be argued as a strange coincidence, but the second one is totally identical in a non-standard design.
Shame on you yet again, EA. I'm happy not to have given you money for quite some time.
I would like to know if the same employee made both tank models for the C&C game. I'm just wondering if it was a lazy (or just plain unethical) employee that stole the designs. Even if different people worked on the models, it still reflects poorly on EA that no one caught this before release to the public.

tinfoil hat
It's starting to make more sense now that I think about it. THQ is on the DL and Relic is starting to work with EA under the table. EA licensed, bought, or stole the Dawn of War 2 engine and are just copypastaing/reskinning assets.

Yeah, they're both clearly ripped off the War Hammer design. Heads shall roll...
Games Workshop is like a Rottweiler on a pork chop when it comes to litigation, but they are also greedy bastards (like when they switched to all plastic models but kept the same insane prices) so if EA bribes them enough they might not demand changes.

No one would should be surprised by this, I expect this kind of stuff from EA and Activision. No news here, carry on, evil game developers still being evil.

How the heck does that tank even work? For the side cannons, I guess you could use some kind of elevator loading system, but there are *3* machine gun mounts under them which would prevent that. And where do they keep all the ammo for all those guns?
That looks to me like someone took a basic tank design and thought "Gunz are kewl!" without putting much thought to the logistics.

Let's not forget the recent move over to resins in order to produce "higher quality" figures. Oh and 20% markup.

Oh jesus they switched to all resin now? Basically all of the hobby shops that did any big table gaming closed around when 3rd edition came out so that's when I stopped too. I'd love to get back into it as painting the models is what brought me into gaming in the first place, but there's no interest in this area.

The tanks were automated by machine spirits and lightly crewed or in the case of space marines they used the interior space for troop transport.

I hate EA. But I really hate GW. I don't play the tabletop but a lot of my friends do. And literally, it sickens me to see that company (GW) milk the everliving shit out of its awkward niche nerdy customers. I am just waiting for the day when an angry nerd pissed off at the latest necron nerfs combined with being forced to use new basepaint will storm GWUK offices.
Even their fucking PC games are giant ripoffs. The difference between BloodBowl and BloodBowl Legendary (or Dark elf) Editions.. turning a 0 value into a 1 in the SQL tables of the game, and uncompressing and renaming assets already there. Greedy lazy bastards.
Greedy fucks can burn in hell.
