I played through RE5 co-op with my niece and had a blast but it was a letdown after 4. Like Syl said they just get crazier and crazier but I think they lost the atmosphere that made it great.
Resident evil 4 was a good game, but it wasn't a fucking Resident Evil game. Nobody except frictional makes good survival horror games anymore, and they release games like every 4 years. WTF gaming industry.
LOL, I can't believe how many people are still butthurt about RE5 not being classified as "horror" that try to deny it was an awesome game. As long as RE6 is still a quality title (which RE5 definitely was), I'm in.

It seems like the voice acting is getting a little better. They've always had classic cheesy voice acting, and the script I'm sure is no better here, but at least they look like they're trying this time. Though thats the least of my concerns with this.

I understand the criticisms of 5 but don't share them.
Also, I still play it to this day and enjoy it greatly for what it is. I've more than gotten my money's worth out of it. The only Mercenaries mode (especially co-op) that's better is the 3DS version, and fuck that tiny screen anyway.
Revelations was a fantastic RE game, the most use I've gotten out of my 3DS by far. The circle pad controller really made it a treat to play. Too bad they didn't release it for a worthy console where you could actually enjoy the visuals without squinting. I can only hope that both Mercenaries 3DS and Revelations make it to a real platform in one way or another sooner rather than later. No circle pad support for Mercenaries 3D is criminal.
I'm ready for RE 6.

Mooooooo! Are you gonna at least read some review first? Or are you gonna just make the same mistake as Raccoon City?

I'm kind of immune to the whole "RE4 and RE5 aren't actually Resident Evil games!" thing because I never actually liked the originals. I always hated the actual gameplay too much to play more than a couple hours of them.
Then along came 4 and 5 and they were perfect for me.
Ah, the curse of success. If they try something new, damn them for not making a Resident Evil game. If they replicate traditional aesthetics, damn them for making the same game over and over again.
But you'll buy it. Oh, you'll buy it and like it (This is my new catchphrase, you're welcome).
If you didn't, you'd have nothing to bitch about. And, we all know, bitching about stuff on forums satiates a primal, psychosomatic need for those of us who were breastfed by the internet's milky, electronic bosom.

Now we have a C virus... Hmm, I think it is time they think about rebooting this series before it gets way too out of hand.
I don't really think they could reboot the series.
I mean, the original concept wtih the mansion and whatnot was a completely different genre of game. You couldn't do their current action focus in the close quarters of a mansion. And if they were just going to go and make a whole new scenario... why not just keep doing what they're doing. I can't imagine anyone plays the game for hte story. And those who do, love the shlock they're currently spitting out.
Resident Evil was, from day 1, a low rent rip off of Alone in The Dark. Resident Evil 2 was admittedly a good game, but every other version has been garbage except for 4, which was still garbage, but had a great and fun shooting mechanic.
