“There aren’t as many shaders, it’s not as capable. Overall the Wii U just can’t quite keep up.”
The second source did note that “some things are better, mostly as a result of it being a more modern design”, but another was unimpressed with the console’s primary selling point: the tablet controller.
“The whole thing about the tablet controller is that you only get one of them, and you can only use one and it’s not completely independent,” they said.

Yet I am not shocked by this. What happened from a couple weeks ago? Wasn't the Wii-U supposed to be twice as good as the 360? Now it can't even keep up?
Sure these are all "rumors", and I am not going to take these rumors as fact until everything is set in stone. But the whole one tablet controller per console has been talked about since the get go, I am surprised they haven't fixed that yet.
Again, if that is the case, and you only can have 1 tablet per console, its a no go. That is your main feature and you limit yourself. Just sad.
Like I stated before, Nintendo would almost be better off, selling their games on the PS/Xbox and giving their fans, and their franchises some freaking justice for once. I haven't been so turned off to their games in a long time. I dont care to play any of them which is sad considering I love Zelda, and the Mario games including the party ones.

Last Week Mark Rein stated the Wii U was more powerful than PS3 and 360. Who to believe? Some unknown dev or the guy selling the Unreal engine.
That is part of the point, Mark Rein can't be trusted either because he is a talking head for the Unreal engine -- an engine that would work fine on the Wii U even if it is a little bit less powerful than the 360/PS3.
Mark's job is the sales guy/biz guy. He isn't a programmer or a developer of any kind.

This was the nail in the coffin for me. Not that I was particularly looking forward to dropping 150+ per controller but the fact that you an only use one per box just doesn't interest me.

Back at E3, they made it seem like this was essential for the gameplay for most games. And I understand that they want this console to be more "U" and just you. But to limit yourself like that.
I have people coming over all the time to just play games. I just can't understand why you would put limitations on yourself. The normal course of action is to have the least amount of limitations possible. Then again we are talking about Nintendo and they tend to do things their way.

The sentiment around the internet is no. A lot of people are turned off by it and the buzz isn't nearly has huge as the Wii... Granted E3 is roughly 2 months away. That "could" all change if they impress with their presentation and have something of actual substance to show this time instead of the damn tablet controller.
But I dont see much change. I dont think they will even come close to toppling what they did with the Wii.

Or, they could just do what they used to do consistently and make a piece of hardware with specs that surpass the competition's. For once, they need to eat a bit of a R&D/production cost hit and tie their interface gimmick to a machine that's actually impressive.

Exactly, I am sick of the speculation, and the journalists/media thinking that getting whatever they can out about a certain thing is news. No, news is cold hard facts. Speculation is just freaking dumb and eventually gets you in trouble.

Damn you Nintendo for making your first party software proprietary. It's always what gets me.
My Wii console sits lifeless gathering dust - but every once in a while I get the itch to play Mario Galaxy or Pikmin... For whatever reason, their games just turn me into a kid again. Every damn time.
