Mebbe. Does Nintendo ever farm out a beloved IP to a 3rd party? I suppose they did with Retro and Metroid? But didn't Nintendo take a minority stake in Retro for that...
Nintendo owns Retro outright now, The purchased them durring the development of Prime. They did allow Sega to make the F-Zero game for GC and Namco did Star Fox: Assault (also for GC). Some series, like Mario Party were never made by Nintendo until recently (it was Hudson until MP9).

Not sure I would dare to play a reboot or new version of this game now that the sound and graphics are that much better. The original is the most scary thing Ive ever played.
The original is still so good. I left my old GC and games back home with the parents and flew through this one over last Christmas break. I tried to keep my Sanity meter as low as possible so that I could re-live all of those wft moments and it was glorious.
