Assassin's Creed 3 to be Set During the American Revolution?
One of Kotaku's readers works at Best Buy and sent them an image from the company's employee news section. It shows an Assassin's Creed character wielding a tomahawk, bow and arrow and flintlock pistol, while standing in front of an American flag. This seems to reveal that Assassin's Creed 3 will take place during the American Revolution, which was one of the options in an Ubisoft poll a few months ago.
In addition, Game Informer leaked another image of the assassin character standing next to George Washington. You can see that picture here.
Am I the only one who thinks that hood looks ridiculously out of place in the late 18th century period of the colonies? I'd feel better about this guy having a white tri-corner hat.
Finally! A game set in America! Why has noone else ever thought of that! I was tired of games always being set in exotic, new locations we've never seen before like crappy old Italy and Syria. After GTA: Tokyo, I knew I was done with these overused locations.
I hope that the combat gets a complete overhaul. The movement system is still fun, but fighting people in assassin's creed games just is just super repetitive.
This is interesting if for no other reason than it could dramatically alter the gameplay for the series. Scaling buildings in sprawling cities was a big part of the previous games. There weren't too many tall structures or big cities in Revolution-era America. What could an assassin do in a wide open field...

Combat has been pretty much the same since 2... I agree, the overhaul is needed. I am just getting burnt out from these games. Hell, I have the newest one sitting in front of my TV untouched really. I played maybe an hour and realized I didn't care for it, and that I felt like I have done all this before.

I got bored with AssCreed around five hours into the second game. The combat and missions were too repetitive.

This is what I am surprised about, many people dont feel the same way.
I thought there was major changes from 1 to 2... that is apparent. But then after 2 I felt I was playing the same game going into Brotherhood, and now Revelations. I am surprised that how people complain about games, that the vast majority arent banging Ubisofts door down about this game for how much the same they all are.
Its like Assassins Creed is following the model of Halo, make it stick and then add little things here and there. Oh now you have a HOOK, or now you have a GRENADE... You can now STEAL your enemies weapons... These should all be mandatory for an assassin... come up with something innovative.

I liked 1 and loved 2, but after a few hours into Brotherhood I lost almost all interest. I still finished it and Revelations but I feel the series has nothing new to offer. I may get the next one when it hits the bargain bin if it's great an innovative.

That's the first thing I thought as well.. That hood looks silly in that photo for that time period.
Well the french did help us during the war and this is ubisoft we're talking about. Maybe they want back in our good graces for all that atrocious DRM.
