Unless you've been living under the roof of Amazon Prime, you've always had to pay a little extra to get release day delivery on video games. Well not anymore! Amazon is now offering 99 cent release day delivery on all video games.
Check out my second quote to change any existing orders to take advantage of this offer.

We are pleased to announce that we have reduced the price of Release-Date Delivery to 99 cents. We wanted to let you know that this ship option was now available at a lower rate and that you can easily upgrade your open order following the steps below.

For those that pre-ordered and paid for Release-day delivery, either cancel and re-order the game or switch the delivery method to 'Free Super Saveer Shipping' then back to 'Release Day Delivery' to see the price reduced to $0.99.
Well, that should ensure I almost never preorder anything from gamestop ever again.
In addition, I just checked my preorder Halo Reach bundle at Amazon, apparently this deal works for console preorders too!
I still prefer brick & mortar stores for picking up titles on release day.
Buying online is nice, I do it often but for a new release I really want that first day, I want a guarantee I will get a copy. As efficient as it is and usually on time, Amazon cannot guarantee it, I mean some off the wall bizarre thing like the single delivery truck bringing it to your house could get lost or something, yea I don't like to hinge a product I really want, getting lost in the mail (trust me, that stuff happens more often than you think with UPS, Fedex, etc).
Good for them. They are really starting to show some muscle in the gaming area. One of the best thing recently is you preorder the top tier titles, you usually get $10-$20 off your next order.. I havent paid full price for any games except for the ones I bought from Live Arcade.
Yup. My pre-order of Tron there was no release day delivery option. I just went into that order, and now I got release day delivery as a selection, and its free for me too (since I am a Prime member).
And Prime rocks. Got a TV and an entertainment center overnighted for that 2.99 fee. Doesn't matter what the weight is, it's 2.99 overnighted!

Prime is pretty easy to share, too. It can be shared among 7 family members. The definition of a family member is "Do you know their birthday?" So find someone with prime, and offer to subsidize them. You both wind up with cheap prime.
I've been using Prime for the last several years, and I get tons of benefit out of it. I was a little paranoid about missing out on release day games, especially a few CEs that I just had to have, but they've come through for me every time without fail.
Sweet! Just in time for a pre-order of Dead Rising 2 Collector's Edition. The only real challenge then will be getting home from work in time to pick up the package in the apartment complex office before they close!

Besides video games my other vice is film
Nice good to see they are doing this. Normally i order with free shipping and i'm always happy to have my games show up later that week. This is definitely cheaper now that even going to a brick and mortar on release day. Amazon is normally cheaper, for most states you don't have to pay tax if ordered from them, and lastly the preorder cash credits are nice. I have gotten so many games alot cheaper from amazon i have saved a few hundred dollars from them. I will now never go to a brick an mortar unless for some reason i have too.
Amazon is the only place I buy games from anymore. On all the big releases they have 20 or 10 dollar gift card deals and I get free Amazon Prime because I'm in grad school so I get free release day shipping it's awesome.
