Call of Duty: Black Ops Features Bots Because You're Not That Good
Treyarch made the announcement at it's multiplayer event that it will include a "combat training mode" with bots.

Over at the Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer event Treyarch is making a few notable announcements regarding game features. For the first time ever, Call of Duty Black Ops will feature a 'Combat Training' mode. Players will be able to take on bots and the mode will have its own progression system.
Obviously, some new elements are being added or some old features are being removed that will create some changes that veterans will bitch about.
So give 'em a tutorial! That'll ease them into it.

A hit with the ladies since the 1980's.
It also features a multiplayer mode where you can wager and win points -- points you can use later to spend on in-game items like costumes and weapons.
How is it that Treyarch became the company I always wanted Epic Games to be?

I, for one, welcome the bots. It's the only way I ever play Counter Strike or Gears of War. Bots don't bitch, bots don't whine, and bots are ready to go when you are and ready to quit when you're done.

Bots, it's what for dinner.

Excited about the new features (esp. gambling and murder contracts)
Since Treyarch is the Obsidian of Activision I am concerned about quality (hopefully there is no MP40 analog in this, 1 gun dominance is a gamebreaker)
The addition of bots is a no-brainer awesome move for me. I always wished that TF2 on the 360 had bots support for me to practice on. (Because there's certainly nobody online playing it these days.) Incidentally, UT3 deathmatch is killer fun against the bots in that game. No muss, no fuss--just start a match and you've got some good ol' run and gun goodness.
Will the bots question your sexuality and rage quit when it looks you're gonig to win? If they can do that, then I may never have to play online again.

If that was the case Microsoft would lose a lot of XBLA members.
