It appears that now the Take 2/3D Realms lawsuit has been settled, Gearbox may have talked into working on perennial no-show, once canceled Duke Nukem Forever.
Quote:
Duke Nukem Forever, according to sources who wished to remain anonymous, is now in the hands of Gearbox and is planned to be released under the studio's name. Gearbox was outed as the developer of the apparently scrapped Duke Nukem spin-off Duke Begins earlier this year.
Take-Two Interactive still maintains publishing rights to the title, which the company confirmed to Kotaku tonight. (A company spokesperson declined to comment about the status of the Duke Nukem Forever project and whether it is in the works at Gearbox.)
One source indicated that a playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever will be available later this year.
Duke Nukem Forever is like that hot chick girlfriend that won't put out. You go to the point where you're all AAAAAAAARG I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!! - and maybe you really don't, but when she stands there nekkid n' ready you can bet your sorry ass you forget all about the waiting and just jump right in to action... Duke-style.
If good ol' GeorgeB throws a hissy fit over this, if it's true, Gearbox Software and Take2 should just tell him to shut up and become a professional poker player in New Vegas.
Hey, if it's true and Gearbox does finish Duke Nukem Forever, it would be great. I would check it out for sure.
I don't care how stupid-long the game was in development just to become vaporware. When and if it hits, I will most certainly consider picking it up if it's good. It's practically a piece of gaming history at this point.
And here's a couple other quotes, just pure speculation but we can hope...

"I've started a new project. It's big. It's, like, 'look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger' kind of big. I'm directing it myself. I can't mention it publicly yet. When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one."
