Things like people all being able to obtain the same uber loot is obvious. To make something uber a singular item per server isnt realistic gameplay wise. But if humanity is supposed to be in danger of dying off but they can float in space with infinite resources is stupid. Then it is no longer a struggle.
They could do something like give you a fleet to manage. It would really inflate the number of human survivors but they could still limit resources then. If they give all the players infinite resources like WOW, notice resources are different than loot, then they remove one of the biggest pressure factors in BSG. It lessens the overall cylon threat greatly.

What I'm saying is that it doesn't HAVE to take place at the same time as the television series. There's much more to the BSG universe that can be explored then just that. The first cylon war being one example and an example where the name would still fit.
It's like saying how could you make a Star Wars MMO? Star Wars is all about a small ragtag group destroying a super power. or how can you make a LotR MMO, does everyone get a ring? or how do you make a Warcraft MMO, who's gonna want to play the peon gathering wood and ore all day?
