Joystiq has word (via PlanetXbox360) that Pandemic Studios' final game, The Saboteur, has gone gold.
Quote:
Though The Saboteur developer Pandemic Studios is losing its 200-person staff, the company's final game has just "gone gold" across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. In a post on the studio's forums, Community Manager Mathew Everett noted that while "this has been a very difficult week for Pandemic Studios," The Saboteur will still be "available across Europe starting December 4 and throughout North America on December 8."
I really feel for them and hope they all find work soon.
I loved Mercs 2 (apparently in the minority on that one) and this looks to be similar in scope and gameplay, yet heavily expanded also. This is looking to be really good and unless something drastically bad is revealed in the reviews, I'll be picking this up day one.
Because it would have saved their jobs? Or because if it was going to be the last game they made that's what you would've wanted to play?
just curio..
Id trurthfully have to say a bit from column "a" and a bit from column "b". Im one of the few people that are uncomfortable with WW2 themed games. It would involve a wall of text which i will spare you all.
I would have love to see another full spectrum warrior but doesn't THQ own the rights to IP? That would kind or make it impossible for them to make since they are part of EA
I thought the FSW series was really revolutionary although repetitive im surprised they didn't go in this direction instead choosing the stale and well worn WWII path. Not angry just disappointed.
So did they let them finish it or just fire them and pushed an incomplete title out the door...
The game was done; all their SKUs were completed before they were let go. Now whether it may need a patch or not is something else, and hopefully it won't need one, since consumers would have to wait for another team to jump on that.
Hopefully the game does really well; former Pandemic employees won't see the money, but at least they'll have a killer title on their resume, and something to be proud of.
