I had no intentions of buying the game, but a friend GOG'd me, so I have to play it now. Luckily for both of us, the game is tight, and really isn't as much of an "expansion" as I had thought from the initial videos. They re-skinned all of the original infected, all the game modes are complete, they added new sounds, and other stuff that I thought they wouldn't worry about.
I still think they abandoned L4D, and I'm not happy about it. Crash Course was terrible, and a blatant move to cover their asses and say, "We were making DLC the whole time! Promise! Even though this campaign is half the size of regular ones, the setting is lack-luster and uses no original assets, and is over-all mediocre in every way - we didn't just push it out the door as fast as we could and make it look like it had been planned the whole time to be like this."
I didn't think it was an expansion, but, after one campaign I realised it WASN'T an expansion. I mean it's just different, it's more up close and personal than the first game.
Just play it, you'll realise the differences almost instantly. Sure, there are some similar bits and such, but that's the way with games of the same genre.
No one bloody calls the continued release of every game ever an expansion.

I've always called every madden title an expansion

I lost *ALL* my achievements and stats randomly TWICE.
A lot of the re-playability is in the achievements. A lot of them are DIFFICULT and require many playthroughs. It makes me really hate the game when I lose my progress.
I'm upset this patch doesn't fix that

While I respect your opinion I reserve my own. Played it and was not impressed.
What were you not impressed with? Did you think L4D1 was better? Did you only play the demo or was it full retail? Xbox 360 or PC? Did you play with friends or pubs? Enlighten me please.
I wish they would have fixed the mic reset bug that plagues the game and the demo. Whenever I enter a lobby, it unmutes my mic and I can hear myself breathe and talk.
L4D1 never had this problem. Why does L4D2?

PC, Steam, Demo. Felt too much like the first one and not enough of the people I pay with were interested in paying twice for an extremely similar game so that was the nail in it.

I don't generally enjoy Destructoid but they make a real good point, Left 4 Dead 2 isn't an expansion. At all.
I don't think Destructoid is worth reading. Peruse the headlines. Whatever stories EvAv or Joystiq doesn't catch you might see on Rock Paper Shotgun or Shacknews. They post constantly to get page and topic hits and have a writing style that attracts the basest of followers, porn addicts and children.

I don't ever post news articles to EvAv from Destructoid because of the style of their writing, I just happened to see that article and agreed with the points the author made.

I was not impressed with the demo either. Having seen my housemate playing it I decided I had to buy the game. It's absolutely worth the money so far. It's great fun.
