This weekend on Steam you can purchase Kaos Studios' first-person shooter, Frontlines: Fuel of War, on sale at 75% off ($7.49).

Frontlines: Fuel of War is an open-world First Person Shooter set on the frontlines of tomorrow. In a world ravaged by a global energy crisis, environmental decay, and economic depression, players assume the role of an elite soldier in the Western Coalition Army on an epic crusade against the Red Star Alliance to control the last of the world's oil reserves. Frontlines: Fuel of War combines cinematic, non-linear game play with next generation firepower and a revolutionary Frontline Combat System to deliver the most thrilling and intense FPS to date.
Good game, it's worth picking up for the solo campaign at that price.
Two questions: how long is the solo campaign, and does it allow for a gamepad?
Anyone know? I won't be taking it online competitively, so I'd just be buying it for the single-player campaign, and I thought this one had a pretty thin single-player component.
Not sure if the SP supports a controller, but it's not a bad game for $8. The AI is pretty much a copy/paste of BF1942's AI. Hard to describe, but if you play it you'll see what I mean; it just leaves you with a sense of, "this should only be played MP". The maps in the SP campaign are much like '42 where you take outposts and advance up the "frontlines" as you play. I got bored with it before I ever finished the whole sp campaign tbh. YMMV.
This was a very fun $15 multiplayer experience on the 360, I'm sure it's even better on the PC. And for $8 hard to pass up.
Yes, it's hard to imagine not being able to spend $8 on a fairly well-reviewed game. I'm picking this up for sure, because PC Gamer said this, which sounds like enough of a reason to spend eight dollars. Your comment was just icing on the cake.

Frontlines genuinely feels like a game made by Battlefield fanatics for other fans.

I loaded up Frontlines and checked the control options for you. It has a second column for 'input 2', mentions you can assign buttons there and also has a 'joystick sensitivity' slider. The game was also released for the Xbox 360, so I'd imagine it should work with a 360 controller. I have not tried playing it with one though.
I don't remember off hand how long the campaign is, but I do remember it was much better than I expected after reading the reviews (many of which focused primarily on the game's multiplayer).
