Are you a curious to what Netflix looks like on the PS3? A Joystiq user by the name of Otis recorded a quick movie of how Netflix is handled.
Quote:
Unfortunately, the early report of the service doesn't sound quite perfect. Otis says in the YouTube description that all video renders at 480p and doesn't scale properly. We'll be testing these claims ourselves when we get the chance to check out the service.
I thought they said the functionality would be like the 360, as in being able to add to the instant queue. Or was that to be included in the downloadable version?

Looks about the same (functionality wise) as what you get with Xbox to me.
Although admittedly Xbox does load quite a bit faster than that... and requiring a disc sucks balls. I can see that getting annoying as hell (as it already is when my gf uses my xbox to watch DVDs... I can't imagine how often I'd have to swap disc if I needed one for all of the times she uses netflix) and personally would pay $6 per month for a Live account to avoid it.
Too bad the video doesn't show how easy it is to search for content, since that's a fairly weak feature about Xbox.
I wouldn't tout party mode as a cool feature either.

Yep, just compared my Netflix streaming options, and there is nothing wrong with the PS3 version. Streams HD video just fine, and the slight scrolling judder I've seen in some 360 HD videos appeared to be gone. Though, that could just be due to the randomness of internet streaming. It did make me realize that the Netflix app in Windows 7 Media Center only streams SD. Yay for unnecessary feature crippling. Also, I agree the 360 party mode is lame.
I've spent a few hours with it so far, and everything seems fine.
My only complaint is the added clicks, but it makes up for those by being quieter than the 360. Click example: If I want to watch the 'next' episode of Lost, on the 360 I can zoom (hold down right-arrow on my remote) over to the box art and hit PLAY. It automatically knows I watch 97% of the previous episode, so it starts the next. On the PS3 I have to click once for each box art in my queue, wait for the image to load, and then repeat until I get to the Lost season. I then arrow down to change episodes, and then click to select the new episode, and then click to play it. Less than a minute of added interaction, but still a pain.
Oh, and the queue images load from the end of the list to the beginning of the list. So when I connect I'm just looking at a big list of "No Image Available" icons for five to ten seconds.
I have 5Mb DSL, so it bounces between HD and non-HD, just like the 360.
Interface definitely looks more clunky than the 360 implementation. And the initial start time was over half a minute, which seems ridiculous for what is basically an online media browser. While the lagginess shown in this video may have been due to the guy having a slow connection, the slow start-up definitely was not. (Unless he has his router hooked up to a dial-up connection and the user authentication was taking 20 seconds. )
