"Some PC gamers are bitching about something else."
"That dwindling portion of the market that's been steamrolled by the console? Those guys?"
"Yeah"
"Fuck em"
By "consoles" you mean the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS? I guess you can be proud of that. Unless, to pad your figures you need to use the ambiguous term "consoles" which refers to a dozen disparate devices.
Also ignore MMO, casual, and digital sales for the PC (you know, the largest profit sectors) which are never included in PC sales figures.
I guess if you ignore all the areas that PC games are profitable, they don't appear profitable, especially compared to systems like the Nintendo DS.
Are you enjoying the Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop, Testcase? I'm excited to see where they take the series with Crafting Mama!
curious what the real story here is. like was mentioned, D2D sells other steam infested software, so why not bitch about those as well?
I bet you dollars to donuts it's because Activision wanted a higher cut than normal on account of it being MW2. And between the weak cut, steamworks and the likely low sales from the target market being totally pissed off - they decided to get some free press instead.

That's a pretty snazzy answer. You should try that in a corporate meeting room somewhere filled with numbers and decision people. I'm sure the slate of blank, confused faces will be educational.
If anything, the takeaway from such a statement in that meeting will be, "We can make Call of Duty games on the same budget/schedule as Encyclopedia Brown Saves The Day 3?"
