So I finally succumbed and bought a PS3 (despite already enjoying my 360). I still use my 360 for the majority of my online gaming, but there are a few key games (Demon's Souls, Motorstorm, FIFA 10) that I want to play online using voice chat. After a few frustrations, I went online and saw that voice chat is either non-existent or a pain in the ass to set up on a PS3.
I realize now that cross-game chat is out of the question, but is there any way to set up in-game chat for the games I mentioned above? I'm getting really tired of playing FIFA on speakerphone.

Also..not sure why people bother arguing with teecakes... I sincerely believe now that he is a bot built by Sony and unleashed on small community sites.
well I found in some games I have to make sure the bluetooth is active before I start the game , but in all honesty that was just vegas 1 so I am not really sure what the problem is. Since you just recently got the ps3 I assume you are doing something wrong
you might want to try stabbing it I guess since 360 is so great hahaha

I am pretty sure you are out of luck with Demon's Souls. From what I have read it doesn't support voice chat at all and that is part of the atmosphere of the game. From Penny Arcade:
"From Software played with the dynamics of voice to incredible effect in Chromehounds, and in a similar way, the lack of voice in Demon's Souls is a thoroughly meditated act." -- http://www.penny-arcade.com/2009/9/16/
As a writer myself I'm often quite awed by Jerry's writing ^_^ It's just not a genre you're personally into, but it really works for me. In fact, if you try to read the comics without the commentary they often don't work very well at all. They require context given by his posts. Other comics seem to be much more self-contained in their given point and humor and feature no post at all. But, I do appreciate their written communique and can't count the number of times they've brought up some game or made some point I found quite interesting. If for nothing else, they're worth reading because they really have their finger on the community's pulse, and they really have dream jobs

I'm in awe of how awful it is.

What pretentious shit. All noise, and no substance.
It would only be pretentious if it were both vacuous and an affectation. Sure the same thing could be said in a simpler way. But he turns a phrase like a pro athlete handles a ball Like I said, his style is its own genre of expression, and I dig it. Not your fav genre, np. But there is much worse writing than his writing: like bland writing.

Seamus Heaney turns a phrase like a pro athlete handles a ball. Penny Arcade turns a phrase like a fat American handles a cheeseburger while trying not to dribble mustard on his shirt.
What headset are you using? I have played many multiplayer games on the PS3 and I am using the official Sony one. It works great and gives you a nice indicator that its on when you turn it on, or mute it, unmute, etc. That way you know whats going on with it. I have been able to use it whenever I feel like turning it on, and its always been recognized well. Now granted some multiplayer games are more prone to people using mics then others, so that could be a separate issue.
Its not the same as Live where everyone has a mic, and because of it, they feel the need to never shut up.
