"A new iteration of the Nintendo DSi™ system will be introduced in Japan on November 21, 2009," according to a statement from Nintendo released to Kotaku. "To be known as Nintendo DSi LL in Japan, and as Nintendo DSi XL in North America and Europe, it will offer a screen 93% larger than the current Nintendo DS Lite with a better view angle, an additional longer touch screen stylus, and preinstalled Nintendo DSiWare™ software. I'm going to buy one, but probably not until at least the summer, if not a bit later. With as many kids as I have, I just "gift" the old ones to my kids and move myself to the newest; everyone's happy! We have four DS Lites and a DSi. I'll pick up the brown DSi XL and pass along my black DSi.

I don't think it will be $20 by summer.

Didn't the DSi just come out like 5 or 6 months ago? I'll wait to see what next Christmas brings. I am tired of buying slightly incremental hardware upgrades.

It seems like Nintendo likes to do hardware updates every couple of weeks. If I wait for next christmas they'll either have their latest hardware increment or the newest will have a chance of being slightly cheaper.

You're actually buying every upgrade that comes out? o.O That's not the purpose. Rather, the purpose is layered upgrade cycles. You have people like me, whose old original DS is worn out and are shopping for a new one, the XL is for me. If you just bought a DSi, wait for the next DS2 or w/e to be released in a few years. You're good until then. It's the same upgrade cycle Apple has seen with their iPod and phone, and it's a phenomena which you see around extremely popular products. In that sense it's nothing new, and it exists because the market is clamoring for it and demanding it.

This will piss off my friend, which makes me happy, as he called me stupid for buying a PSP Go. Now we are both stupid.

Better yet wait 5 months for the DSi XLT super delux with the chrome tips! As we all know we will see 21 versions of the DS before we see the true successor to it.

Nintendo is going to set a guiness record for people re-purchasing the same product from them again.
