How come no one is talking about it? It looks like a hell of a lot of fun!

The person(s) who were always on top of handheld releases moved to the Colony. So, no such person exists here to bring the goods on handhelds.

Got some bad reviews in the latest issue of Game Informer, pretty bad considering GI is the entire reason I got into the Final Fantasy series to begin with (they rated FFIII (US) for the SNES a 9.3 and I remember thinking "I should give this genre a try after such a great review.")

My advice would be to rent it and/or enjoy it from afar (aka steal your friend's copy).

GI might have reviewed it as bad but, after watching a bit of game play and the reviews from other sources are decent, i'm not ready to nuke this just yet.

I found it to be crappy and sub-par, not at all deserving of an entry into the FF series.

I picked it up same day i picked it up batman from ebgames. I like the game! It has a lot of the characters i liked from the series but...it's missing the female leads! What. The. Fuck. I wanted to kick ass with Tifa, Yuna, Riku, Fran, Balthier, Penelo(lol) but you get my point. Yeah there's Tidus, Squall, Cloud, Zidane, Cecil, Onion Knight, etc.

The combat, it's as epic as the videos look, the camera can be annoying sometimes i would say having completed 4 character stories about 10% of my battle game play. The only problem I have with the game is, it's either way too easy or far too weighed in the opponents favour when you're just starting. You unlock things, you create things, you find things, you buy things and unfortunately what you buy doesn't change on your character visually(how typical for a final fantasy game -_-). You learn new abilities that you can customize your character with, you might a certain play style or a move, you might think hey squall needs a little finishing touch after he sends his opponent face first into the wall or ground, or cloud after he climhazzard's someone and then casts fire at their struggling to get up body.

I like this game, after about another week or two of playing it, it'll have paid for itself by stabilizing my sanity at work.

Man the handhelds forum is dead......

Anyway. I've been playing this game recently and once you get used to the combat it's pretty damn fun. I still haven't worked out all the quirks as there are a lot of things to do but I'm progressing well. I currently have a level 25 Cloud and 24 Cecil just by playing their stories (twice each) and some single battles.
