Alpha Protocol Delayed, With No Official Announcement
SEGA finally admitted to a delay in the quietest way possible for Alpha Protocol... they updated the release date on their website and didn't issue any releases about the slippage. We all kind of knew it was going to happen, but hey... now it's targeting Spring 2010. Joystiq:

The site displays the Xbox 360 and PC launches for May 6, 2010, while the PS3 version has been left at "Spring 2010." This is a not-so-slight change from what the publisher's website showed this morning, when the release information stated the espionage RPG was "out now"
Good luck getting the help you need, Mr. Protocol. Still would have been nice for SEGA to have actually told their customers, particularly those that preordered.
Spring of 2010 is good. I should be done with my planned multiple playthroughs of Dragon Age by then and looking for a new RPG. This really doesn't bother me at all.
This is incredibly good news. Every other Obsidian RPG has been rushed out the door unfinished due to publisher demands (and Obsidian being either generally slow or under a ridiculous schedule). Now we get to see what happens when they have the extra few months to polish it.
This is incredibly bad news for Obsidian. Had they delivered for this holiday season they would be going up against Halo 3: ODST, Modern Warfare 2, and two great new IPs in Brutal Legend and Dragon Age. Now that they've slipped they have to compete with all of the other huge titles that have slipped.
When will the stars possibly align again so that a company is able to release a new IP into the holiday season vs. such (comparatively) light competition?
Having said that, my personal interest is that it be a great game as I won't spend money on bad games and there are a lot of months to spread releases out between January and June, so hopefully they can position this well.
I'm starting to wonder what exactly is left this holiday season, Besides Dragon Age and Modern Warfare 2. I'm only going to get angry if Borderlands is the next game to get pushed back since its the one I've got my fingers crossed for.

Seriously? What about Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, God of War Collection, Forza 3, Ratchet & Clank Crack in Time, Left 4 Dead 2, and The Saboteur? The holidays are still pretty chock full of AAA games.
I'm looking forward to this, but it is pretty crappy how SEGA is treating it's customers. Quietly updating it's release page with no official delay is just poor business. Especially so close to the release date. Moving this new IP to one of the most crowded release schedules in years isn't very bright either.
