Modern Warfare 2 Goes Accessory Crazy

Activision is going all out for its release of Modern Warfare 2 starting with the Prestige Edition and then heading into a partnership with Madcatz to bring you branded extras for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. If you just can't get enough MW2 you will now be able to purchase a controller with extra buttons, faceplates, throat microphone or blu tooth headset among a few other items for the PC version.

Quote:
Yes, there will be console skins and branded controllers from Mad Catz, but that's just a small selection of the merchandise Mad Catz has up its sleeves. Hell, even the branded controllers are something special, with both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions sporting two additional buttons on the rear, perfect for shifting melee and sprint away from the analog control sticks.
Want to know the price point of these items? Then click the headline and check out the full list from Kotaku.

I expect at least one of you to purchase the Prestige edition and some of this swag then take a picture of you using them all at once and send it to us. Really, its your duty as an EvAver to do so.

I'm not sure what to mock, the silliness of all this extra stuff to buy, or the blanent money-grab that it is.

I'll proably continue enabling my irrational addiction to Special Editions and pick up the Prestige Edition when it comes out.

Honestly the throat communicator doesn't sound like such a bad idea but I'd only buy it if it was wireless.

C'mon pwnophobia, I can see you want to be hooked up with wires twisting around your body so fully that you have no need for clothing, just the coolness of wirey rubber. You secretly yeard for all those gagets attached to you body and to have your S.O. (read: or mom) walk into your gaming mastrubatorium and drool, envying at the gaming peripheral cyborg you are.

I'm was getting the Prestige Edition, but then they announced it wasn't coming for the PC, so if I want it, I have to buy the Prestige for a console, and the game for PC. Not exactly a good economic decision.

I do want the Elite Keyboard and Sniper Mouse though.

I'm a sucker for these kinds of things.

The prices are ridiculous. I was thinking about getting one of the 360 controllers for my dad (he has a hard time running, or staying steady while holding his breath with the sniper rifle), but at $50 for a wired 3rd party controller, they can go to hell.

I was actually thinking the opposite. I could give a fuck less about the Modern Warfare 2 branding, but i gladly paid $40 for my Street Fighter IV pad from madcatz (and LOVE it), and this Modern Warfare 2 pad looks to be of a similar quality make. During a video interview of this hardware, they stated that the joysticks are using the same type of connection as the first party joysticks, and the d-pad and grips actually look a bit better....

i cant believe that people want the prices of the ps3 to be reduced yet still pay out all this money on worthless junk like this. i mean sure CoD 4 was extremely well appreciated (a little too much in my opinion) but all this is going over the top.

Oh!

I just realized I followed the link to this OLD topic from the front page. I feel like a fool. Hopefully no one will actually come into this topic again and notice what I did.

Apparently i've been using wires made out of less than space age technology and now my latencies are at risk.
