Lets say you're a fan of turtles, and perhaps ninjas... then no doubt you've heard about some green guys named the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Welp, as Summer of Arcade continues next week, we are expected to see a remake of TMNT: Turtles In Time, complete with new (read: ugly) 3D graphics that remove any charm the original had. The price for that was supposed to be $15 (1200 MSP) but now, thanks to IGN's news, we have word that Ubisoft has decided to drop that price to $10 (800 MSP).
Quote:
Well, looks like Microsoft and Turtles in Time's publisher Ubisoft have had a change of heart at the last minute and just told IGN they're dropping the price to $10. This is great news for people who only make $10 an hour: they just got out of a half hour of work!
Much better price. I'll have to try it first, though. 3D? Not excited.
Also, if you make only ten dollars an hour, you damn well shouldn't be buying/playing too many video games. You ought to go to school, or dust off your resume, or something.
$10/hour for a 40 hour week for 52 weeks a year is $20,800. Enjoy your ramen noodles.
I like ramen myself, but nutritionally, they're shit.
800 looks a lot better than 1200. I was planning on downloading this anyway just to check it out (since I loved the SNES version), so the less I spend on it the better. And yes, I do know its a remake of the Arcade version.
Johan, a lot of people don't have that many options.

Yay! I don't ever get stuff on XBLA, but I was really excited for this. Now I get to spend a reasonable amount of money on it, which is even better! I wish more games were cheaper. Someone decided that they should start charging more for these games, but I really haven't seen a XBLA game worth its salt. Mostly they're just like internet flash games for the 360. Which I will admit can be very fun, but isn't exactly something I want to pour cash into.
Well this is more reasonable. i would hope that at 15 bucks people were not planning on picking it up because that was overpriced. Considering how you could beat the first one in less then an hour, paying 15 for something similar is just ridiculous. Ill probably wait on it anyhow since 3D is not really something I wanted.
I dont think Shadow Complex should be ten. I wish it would be ten, but that game I can see as a steal for 15, and when you compare it to turtles, it is value priced.

I don't know why the people in here are hating on this game so much, but I am really excited and I had already made my peace with 1200 points, so this just makes me even happier.

You'd be surprised what one can manage on $10 an hour if they're good at managing finances.
THANK YOU. This game just popped back onto my radar.
I bet someone at Ubi or MS put together a spreadsheet showing lifetime sales of various XBLA releases at different price points, and they were able to demonstrate that games priced $10 or lower actually end up generating MORE revenue than higher priced games.
I'm telling you--$15 is outside of impulse purchase territory for most people, whereas $10 is right at the top end of that scale.

And remember--that's before Obama gets his cut. (Yes, kids, you still pay taxes, SSN, MC/MA, and unemployment making $20,000/year, depending on how many dependents you claim.)

Why are there politics in a TMNT thread? Shoogoaway.

That wasn't politics--or at least, it wasn't intended to be. It was just saying that Johan's alarmingly low figure of $20,000 income is even LOWER after taxes.
If it's because I used "Obama" as a metaphor for the government, I just euphemistically used his name as an allegory for government in general.
Settle down there, Obama girl.

Geez, there's some more of it. It's a game thread! Politics, go away! There's a whole subforum for that.
Yes, the 3D graphics don't have the instant charm of 2D, but have you guys seen any of the videos? 3D provides much smoother animation that simply isn't possibly with 2D unless you want a large amount of frames, which equals a large (potentially massive - hello Street Fighter 2 HD) download.
I was looking kinda forward to this but it looks like a battered Glaswegian prostitute so I will probably steer clear of it, and a battered Glaswegian prostitute if I see one soon
