If Wall Street Journal analyst Arvind Bhatia is to be believed, Blizzard will delay Starcraft II into 2010.
Quote:
Following the statement from Activision that its forthcoming shooter Singularity will be delayed to 2010, Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia believes that the same fate is likely to befall Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty.
The Blizzard title, currently slated for an October 2009 release, saw the launch of its beta version delayed recently, leading Bhatia to believe that it "increasingly appear[s]" the final game will also be delayed, reports the Wall Street Journal.
I'm glad, this just means they'll make the game better!!
*cough*

They need to delay it. The battle reports I've seen make it look like a dung heap.
I do agree that it looks a little stale. I'm still waiting for a beta to get some hands-on time to make a real decision, but what they have shown off up to date seems very bland.

The Starcraft 2 team has heard all of the complaintst about it being episodic and are now delaying the launch further to include all content in one game.
How is something delayed if they never announced an official release date?
They've been quoted as saying Beta would launch in summer and release would be later this year. I don't know how official you want it, but it came out of the lead designer's face.
Yes, because it's 1/3rd of a game instead of just having a focused campaign like they've said a million times.
Not uncommon for Blizzard to delay a product, only makes it better when it's finally released. Never been disappointed with any of their titles yet. (Say for Starcraft: Ghost, RIP)
It seems they are having problems with battle.net 2.0. As said in an intervire 2 weeks ago - "everything is up in the air". And they stated that what they have now (the current developed b.net) is not what they what, and they are already heading in the new direction.
So this is statement that confirms battle net 2.0 being unfinished and not close to being finished, unless they have some super-magic-wizards who can conjure up a new version. They proabably don't want to ship beta of they only have this obsolete b.net2.0 that they don't want to support.
How is this making the rounds as news? Some guy, totally unaffiliated with Blizzard and with no inside information says that he thinks the game will be delayed, based on some dubious analysis of holiday competition. The only difference between what this guy knows and what any of us know is that he's holding the microphone. Of course, based on Blizzard's track record, it shouldn't be any surprise if it does slip. However, the chances of it slipping for any of the reasons this guy thinks are slim at best.
