Crossroads Mall Coming to Left 4 Dead as 'Dead Before Dawn'

A while ago, we saw a positively awesome video showcasing one fellow's work in bringing the Crossroads Mall from Dawn of the Dead (remake) into the Source engine. This wasn't a map for Left 4 Dead though, just something created by a fan in Source.

Method, administrator over at Left 4 Dead Mods, has a hot update indicating that they are indeed bringing this mall and surrounding areas to Left 4 Dead in the form of a full fledged campaign called Dead Before Dawn, similar to those created by Valve. Screenshots are included and it looks positively zomb-tastic.

Quote:
Dead Before Dawn, the replica of the Crossroads Mall from the movie Dawn of the Dead (2004) is coming to Left 4 Dead. The DBD team has been working tirelessly on the campaign and has vowed not to stop until the campaign is ready for release. Previously, we stated that the estimated release date will be the 1th of July (lol). At the time of this announcement, Valve was said to release the full SDK in a week's time. That didn't happen and we were forced to postpone the release date, BUT, Valve has now confirmed that next week we will have our dirty paws on the full version of the SDK and we're ready for it. I would like to use this opportunity to give you guys a rundown of what's been happening the past few months. So let's get crackin'

Ok as you all (should) know, the Crossroads Mall map was originally made for the Half-Life 2 Mod, No More Room in Hell. Which is back into production and for the past 8 weeks, we've had regular updates from the mod team and they are hard at work. We cover all the news from No More Room in Hell on our site as well. (Since it's Zombie related).

Myself and Darth_Brush are project lead on Dead Before Dawn (darth_brush being the godly mapper and I use my super powers in public relations and publicity to promote the campaign and various other tasks concerned to the campaign).
[Thanks Prizim]

Me want.

That's awesome! Now all they need to do is get rid of the boss zombies and turn it into a action-survival horror, strategic-mmo

Is there any way that the characters could be modded to fit the actors in the movie? Maybe even some NPC's?

I really liked the remake.

Never had much of an interest at all in L4D until seeing the Raccoon City stuff and now this. I think I may consider possibly purchasing it.

I suggest Valve to sponsor them and distribute the campaign over Steam, free of charge.

That would be the beginning of an excuse for L4D2 released this fall.

The mall looks awesome but the exhaustion change to the victims ruined the game for me. It's just way too easy for for the infected now.

Looks pretty nice. Too bad I don't have this game, though.

I wonder how long before someone remakes the mall from Dead Rising?

This advice is amazingly solid and amazingly seldom followed.

LOL I have three copies. So, my hope is that they will at least offer this as DLC. On the 360, you pay to play, that is just the way of it. I don't mind. There are conveniences. However, it is heart-breaking when you can't even get goodies for money, let alone free.

Ultimately, even if they do release it, I will probably wait and hopefully be able to pick it up for L4D2 instead. What are you gonna do? I play L4D and TF2 (both 360) almost exclusively. Purchasing the sequel is still smarter for this gamer, than paying 50 or 60 dollars for any other game (that I will only spend a couple of hours playing). lol
