I'll agree that cutting the muliplayer from the PC does kind of suck, considering multiplayer like this was original to the PC.
On the bright side, you have to admit, the $27.99 (on Amazon) price point is fairly nice if you're wanting to experience the single player component, and don't really much care for the multiplayer. Personally, with so many other multiplayer games taking up my time, I really doesn't feel the loss.
I suppose they couldn't delay the PC version for a month or so for optimizations and multiplayer? I'm alright with a delayed game if it means a vastly superior game.
Or they could just release a patch after the title ships like everyone else does with PC games.
But the reality is that some beancounter decided that the revenue from the PC side wasn't worth the effort. It's surprising they released a PC version at all.
Why they bothered with a PC version is really the real question, most multiplatform games sell crap numbers on PC compared to the consoles. No doubt they develop on PC, but the extra QA and support effort... hardly seems worthwhile.
It's funny cause a friend of mine bought the 360 version based on how positive the reviews are and is seriously pissed because he claims the controls are total crap. Haven't tried it myself, but he was pretty furious he spent the $$ on it.
Timing is HUGE when it comes to games. The timing of the game was set to match the release of the remastered version of the Ghostbusters movie on Blu-ray. I bet that a lot of the hype for the game (and as a result, many copies sold) was built around people talking about the re-release of the movie. Not everyone cared about the movie re-release, but there is a chunk of the demographic that does.
Yeah, from what I've read the multiplayer isn't worth an extra $20-$30. Trapping ghosts with random pubbies doesn't appeal to me.
Considering one of the biggest features of this game is co-op multiplay, you'd better hope it's worth the extra $30. Cause without multiplay, you have a 5-8hr singleplayer game, and nothing else.
Tell ya what Atari. I'm not going to buy the PC version. Instead of spending 5-8 hours and $30(+tax) on your game, I'll go re-watch my box-set dvds of the movies. Same amount of time spent, and save myself $30. When you asshats decide to include the main feature of your game (co-op multiplay), which should've been a given considering how goddamn easy it is to port a 360 game to windows..... THEN I'll reconsider buying it.
