In it's first ten days of release, GRIN's updated vision of Bionic Commando has sold a piddling 27,000 copies. Gamasutra:

Bionic Commando sold that amount at U.S. retail from its May 19 release to the end of NPD's retail calendar on May 30, across both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. NPD Group said it could not disclose the exact split between Xbox 360 and PS3 sales.
The Capcom-published Bionic Commando is currently earning around a 70 percent review average on Metacritic. Stockholm, Sweden-based Grin is also responsible for August 2008's well-received downloadable title Bionic Command: Rearmed, a side-scrolling, polygon-based remake of the original Bionic Commando, which first appeared in arcades in 1987, and later on the NES.
Another Grin-developed game that launched on May 19, the movie-licensed title Terminator Salvation, sold 43,000 units during the same period across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
I guess Bionic Commando really didn't make anyone's "balls pucker".
Its a shame because it really is a fun game; not deep or amazing but still enjoyable. Definetly deserves to sell better then Grins other title, that hunk of crap Terminator Game.
I found the game to cause nausea for me...I haven't felt that immediate sense of disconnect between the actions on screen vs. my control over them in a long time. I prefer to keep it that way.
There's any number of reasons why this might be a failure and I'm interested in hearing more about what peopel consider the reason to be. I mean, Bionic Commando is one of those franchises that everyone is all "awww dudde! they should totally make a new bionic commando game! that'd be sick!" about.
So why no sales? Could it be the "extreme makeover" of the plot and universe? Or the shift in gameplay mechanics? or that people don't love franchises as much as the industry thinks they do? Or the oversaturation fo media on the game? (it seems like it should have been out a year ago based on all the media of the game)
60 bucks for that game? no wonder. will somebody here please tell whoever that 60 bucks is too much for games in america right now with everybody broke. even the rich people are broke.
at 30 bucks games would FLY OFF SHELVES.
think about it. would you rather sell 1 million copies of something at 60 bucks, or 10 million copies at 30 bucks? WAKE UP!!!!! i am STILL waiting for dead space to hit 20 bucks before i buy it.
will somebody please wake up the idiots in charge up top.....
Well it's definitely not selling down here in Australia where it was discounted very shortly after release (which is a damn rare thing at your major money grabbers like EB).

Apparently, they'd rather sell 27,000 copies at $60.
