Beatles Rock Band DLC Doesn't Work With Normal Rock Band
Remember all that jazz we hears about having Rock Band as a platform? It was looking great for a while there with Rock Band 1 and 2 songs to be interchangeable for both DLC and disc content. Hell, even AC/DC Rock Band allowed it. The times, they are a'changin.
Joystiq has word that all the folks from Harmonix have confirmed that Beatles: Rock Band DLC will not be cross supported. One can infer from this announcement also that you won't be able to simply copy your Beatles songs off the disc either and use them in Rock Band 1 or 2.
If that was the case, then they'd let us rip RB2 to the HDD and play everything through RB:Beatles. Let me know when that happens.
Until then? Fuck this bullshit. The Beatles are not worth splitting the Rock Band platform over. This sort of bush league bullshit is why I don't bother with Activision's games or DLC anymore. I can only hope this game crashes and burns so that Harmonix snaps out of it.
I don't think this is all that much of a shock considering the original press release for this:

Other than a brief mention of Rock Band during the teleconference, so far no mention has been made of the band's songs coming to Rock Band or Rock Band 2. In fact, Harmonix's Alex Rigopolis stated during the call that this is not a Rock Band expansion pack, but an all-new game title built from the ground up.
The game will be a journey that will take you through the entire Beatles catalog, from the first album to the last. There will be an interactive music performance involved using music controller peripherals, but they stress that the game is not a Rock Band title. Visual exploration of the Beatles will be a big part of the game, though they were not prepared to discuss more on that at this time.
I was kinda surprised to see that they went back on the "Rockband Title" thing, obviously it makes sense from a marketing perspective, but has the scope of the game been scaled back to a more standard Rockband experience?
