Guitar Hero: Van Halen Very Likely

There have been several signs that point to a Van Halen branded Guitar Hero game. All rumors and nothing has been confirmed, but it is looking very likely that we'll see Eddie and the boys rocking out at some point. The biggest clue was revealed in the wee hours this morning when GameStop posted the ability to pre-order this exact title. Additional confirmation of its existence can be traced back to the German ratings board who have rated the game for both PS3 and 360. Kotaku:

Quote:
Executives have spoken of it. Ratings Boards have classified it. And now the world's largest games retailer is accepting preorders for it. Activision, it's about time you announced Guitar Hero: Van Halen.

A GameStop employee has helpfully pointed us towards his overseer's website, where you can throw some money down on the unannounced title right now. There are listings for 360, PS3, Wii and PS2 versions, while there's also an awfully precise-looking release date of July 28 in there as well.
Now, who's the frontman in the virtual representation of the band going to be? Diamond Dave? Sammy Hagar? And more importantly, if Sammy is in it, will it include a bottle of Cabo Wabo?

I don't see the problem with new Guitar hero especially with good band.
But one think is sure is that Activision want Guitar Hero to be the game
people see when they search for a music game. Guitar Hero got a better
exposure than Rock Band.

I couldn't believe the Guitar Hero version of "You Really Got Me" (GH2 I think?) didn't have the "Eruption" intro. If they cut off all the cool stuff like that in this game, I'll be really disappointed. If they leave it all in, I may actually buy it.

Activision will kill the music game genre. Retailers are still trying to dump all the old Guitar Hero bundles and games. As for the Sammy vs Dave argument, the band was great with both guys. To love one and hate the other means that people are missing out on some great music no matter which side of the fence you're on. The band really did suck with Gary Cherone though, that is probably the only thing Van Halen fans agree on.

Van Halen never had Gary Cherone! WTH are you talking about?

I mean, YEAH, some of the members of Van Halen did a side project with him, but that wasn't Van Halen. You might as well argue that Audioslave was Rage Against the Machine.

My only problem with this is that I'd rather just see the content released as DLC rather than a stand alone. I hate the fact that you have to pop disks in and out to enjoy Guitar Hero. Other than that, I have no problem with an infinite amount of content for GH or Rock Band. I'd eventually like to see every single song come out. Keep it coming!

Its a good exclusive. I would have bought DLC 1984 album for Rock Band.

Well, more XBLA games for me I guess!

Uhhh, I think he's a VH fan who's trying to block out all memories of the Gary Cherone "era."

Unfortunately some things cannot be undone.

I agree though with the DLC options. Just put it up on Rock Band Store and be done with it. You don't need to buy a new disc everytime you want to play a different band. That's why I think RB is much better than the GH franchise.

I agree. I think the ability to import songs from the prior Rock Band, is the best feature of Rock Band. If I had to keep switching out disc's depending on my musical mood I would quit the music game genre all-together.

Having said this, I hope they are wise enough to keep this trend going, and for us wanna-be tree huggers, offer the entire Beetles Anthology as downloadable content on top of that.

I like Gary Cherone as a singer, but I just can't see him working well in VH. I am glad i missed that incarnation.
