Judged by the same standards as more traditional expansions, Entrenchment's mere handful of new features might seem a bit anemic. But when you factor in the quality of the additions and the fact that this pack is only ten dollars, it rises to the level of a must-buy expansion for any fans of the original game. The new defensive options add tremendous excitement to the game and definitely fill a hole, tactically speaking. The new star bases are worth the price of admission alone.
The graphics for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment are still good looking. The new star bases are very impressive and scary depending on who owns the star base. What will continue to amaze players is how stable the framerate is; especially with all of the zooming in and out players will do during the course of one game. The framerate stays extremely stable even with all of the intense action going on.
I pre-order and played the beta, and I must say the improvements to defensive structures really helps free up fleet resources and a welcome addition. The star bases also help lock down those annoying wormholes that the enemy seems to use as a back door frequently. My only complaint is that it kills the Sins of a Galactic Empire mod I have
After initial reluctance on my part due to my dislike of the whole micro-expansion concept I'm going to purchase it. The reviews and comments like swiftdraw's have broken down my resistance.
I've managed to stay away from this title despite overwhelming pressure to get it. I may have to capitulate. I just hope it doesn't suck me in like MOO did... I have a life now that I can't leave along for that long!
I just purchased Entrenchment. When I got to the final page of the check-out process Space Rangers 2: Complete (SR2 with the Reboot expansion) was sitting in my order for $3.99. I went ahead and got both for $13.94.
I already had Space Rangers 2 and I think I might have added the complete pack to my cart when it was on sale a while back, but it was not showing in the cart when I started the check-out process. Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise. Too bad I can't gift my original copy of SR2 to somebody like you can on Steam.
