The reason why I don't like it:
My Xbox 360 #1 RROD's. I get it repaired for a cost from MS.
I get a replacement. It's disc drive gets read errors and goes bust. I don't want to deal with repairs, so I buy a new one.
A year later it RROD's. Luckily MS announces the 3-year warranty and I get it replaced for free. A month later, this one dies as well, MS replaces it for free.
My replacement lasts for about 6 months and then gives disc read errors. It's not covered under warranty so I say fuck it, hell with the warranty and follow the instructions on youtube and fix the spindle. The drive then runs fine but is louder than hell. Goes like that for about a month and then gives read errors again.
The thing should just fuckin' work. I shouldn't have to get it repaired so many times, I shouldn't have to deal with this shit multiple times in such a short timespan. It should just work! Plain and simple. It doesn't matter if MS can repair it quickly. MS should'nt have to repair it at all, not for several years at least.
Also, the repairs process seems to have gotten better. You won't believe the terrible customer service when we were first dealing with this crap.
In all fairness you have had a shitty experience. I guess my own dealing with MS have been a lucky few and went smoothly. 360 was rushed to launch and suffered greatly because of it, there is no excuse for it, the only recourse for MS is how they deal with people hit by their negligence. That said, Apple,I believe, has had no such setback to test their character. Their OS is inherently more stable because they have none of the third party hardware compatibility problems to contend with. They traded open competition for stability. Looking at the price of their hardware I have to think it was unwise, and I would hate to be denied the pleasure of running a system I built with my own hands and skill.
