Proving that Square Enix might just be a little too organised for it's own good it is rumoured that a delay to Dragon Quest IX may well delay the now multi-platform Final Fantasy XIII. From 1up.

"The next term's schedule has not been fixed yet. Presently, I cannot say what kind of effect we will experience from moving the Dragon Quest IX launch from March to July. I cannot say there won't be an effect. There is a possibility that Dragon Quest IX delay could effect Final Fantasy XIII."
Unfortunately, this is exactly the fear that led to last week's five-year low in Square Enix's stock price. Now that half of the rumors have proven true, and the other half could be, investors are likely to get nervous all over again.
There have been rumours of an '09 release for Final Fantasy XIII, I reckon they can be quashed. More here.
I'm currently working under the assumption that Final Fantasy XIII is coming out in 2020 so that I won't be disappointed with all these delays and if it comes out any sooner it'll be a nice bonus!
Translation + English Voice Acting. Voice acting can be time consuming if the developers are trying to do a good job.
Atlus does a pretty damn good job with 1/10th the people and probably 1/100th the money. Admittedly, they also take 6+ months to translate anything. Square Enix seems to be in the "near limitless resources" bandwagon of publishers as far as I'm concerned.
I'm glad that squares voice overs have improved since FFX. My god I wanted to fucking KILL yuna in that game.
Aww no way. The FFX voice acting was good and really brought the characters to life. If you didn't like the characters I guess that's another story.
Does anybody think that for the supposed best in the series that FFXII just kinda evaporated. They should have ported it to PS3 and redone the graphics.
I wouldn't say that FFXII evaporated, it sold a couple million and then had a DS sequel, as well as having balthier show up in the FF:Tactics remake, a ton of nods in FF:tactics advance, and a secret character in in Dissidia.
