Looks like family friendly EA finally decides to take the hard core Wii owners seriously. Joystiq

Here's a weird surprise out of EA's ongoing Q3 financial earnings conference call: CEO John Riccitiello revealed an upcoming Dead Space game for the Wii, saying, "We're bringing core intellectual properties and franchises in categories we think have legs on the Wii platform. A good example of this is Dead Space. We're bringing a Wii title to the market this year and it is absolutely going to be the quality and fear factor that you got on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC SKUs this past year."
This is the first Wii game on my radar since Brawl last summer.

Reason: no sigs please
That's unfair.
Saying Dead Space Wii looks bad because Dead Rising does is like saying Gears 2 is bad because LotR: Conquest is.
I think a game where the majority of the gameplay consist of slicing up aliens would play good on the Wii. But then again I can imagine how it plays bad on it as well.
Games can look fine on the Wii , it all depends on who is making the game and if they really want it to look good or just want to try and make a fast buck.

Not trying to troll or be fanboyish, but show me one good-looking Wii game that isn't done by Nintendo and wouldn't look better on the 360 or PS3.
Don't even say "The Conduit". It doesn't look as good as everyone says it does. Good for the Wii, yes. Good for 360 or PS3 graphics? No way.
It's like Halo 32 said (which is what I was getting at): it's a hardware limitation, not a matter of coding.

for me this is the only wii game on my radar since zelda
yeah it'll look like crap compared to the sexy pc version, but the controls might be interesting, and i'm hoping they'll have new level layout perhaps?

Levels, textures and char models are not created by programmers via code. The problem with all the crappy looking Wii games is bad art design. It's obvious the Wii can't render the most "realistic" looking graphics because of hardware. But with proper art direction games can still "look good".
Your last statement made me laugh. When it comes to comparisons like that, I hear in my brain "This apple tastes good for an apple. But it doesn't taste like an orange."
FWIW: I don't own any of the current gen consoles. I only play games on PC and DS.
The wii version will obviously not look as good, but it still could be pretty fun using the wiimote to shoot off limbs and stuff. (Hell they should make a limited edition of this game that comes with a plasma cutter shell you put the wiimote in, It'll sell tons)
One Mario game? One last-gen Zelda game? One Metroid game?
Get a fucking clue Nintendo.
This makes no sense.
The SNES, N64 and GC all had one Mario game each as well (not counting spin-offs and All-stars on SNES. Only N64 and the NES had two Zelda-games that was exclusive to the console. N64 didn't even have one Metroid game, and the GC and GBA are the only ones who have two.
Nintendo have been hinting about a new Zelda game for ages, so the Wii might get another one before the next generation. I think they've been talking about a Mario game as well, but I can't confirm that.
If it does for dead space what it did for Resident Evil 4, then I'm all for it. Resident Evil 5 might be a step up in the graphics department, but the controls are a MASSIVE step back compared to RE4 on Wii. That said, they'll have to actually put some effort in to make the graphics look decent.
I was talking to the music composer of Dead Space at lunch last week and he gave me the rundown on the music technology they had in that game, there's no way the Wii will be able to pull that off. I think he said he delivered 4 stereo tracks that would play simultaneously and remix themselves depending on triggers in the game. Audio was half of the game experience so the Wii is already at a major disadvantage.
