Red Eagle Games today announced they have signed a strategic distribution agreement with Electronic Arts Inc. for games based on Robert Jordan’s beloved fantasy series, The Wheel of Time.
Red Eagle Games will develop and publish a line of stand-alone games on all major videogame platforms, including consoles, personal computers, handheld systems and wireless devices. The games will be distributed by EA. In addition, Red Eagle will launch and operate a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that encompasses the themes, characters and world of The Wheel of Time, which will be distributed at retail by EA.
The 10 stand-alone games will be released a series of expansion packs which all contain exactly the same content.
79 of the 80 hours that will comprise each game will consist of the camera slowly panning over every lavishly-crafted detail in the game. These cutscenes cannot be skipped.
I fucking hate that series with a passion.

Just saw someone in a fur coat walking a dog. "I love to take care of animals AND wear them!" If only they were holding a burger.
Well I would hope they trim it up some, but it could be cool. I have heard several friends who read the series say that while the story is good, the author's writing style leaves a lot to be desired.
The series is pretty good I would say but too much recycling in the last 4-5 books. A game based on the rich world description and ideas could be very good, or really really bad.
In seriousness, I think that the core store in Wheel of Time is interesting and I give him credit for a world building imagination that isn't utterly derivative. If he had had the courage to end the series, full stop, fin, the end, terminus est at the conclusion of Book 3 ("I am the Dragon reborn!") it would an outstanding act of artistic vision and integrity. Infuriating, also. But half of the art of writing is knowing what not to write, and Jordan just plain lost his way. Does anybody really believe otherwise?
I never read them. I listened to them as I drove across the country. In the later books I wanted to put my fist through the windshield. The only consolation is that that time would have been wasted anyway.
I'll listen to the conclusion on the next long trip I take after it comes out, just to see where it all goes. Like I said, there's an interesting story in there somewhere.
PS: Sorry for the spoiler but at least I didn't reveal who is the Dragon reborn. You'll have to figure that out for yourself!
Does the game ever let you finish the campaign or even bother to tie up any loose plotlines or does it just ask you to wait for the next episode, and then the episode after that, and the episode after that before the developer finally goes out of business and never creates the final episode or ever answers any of the hanging threads?
If not they aren't going to be able to create the true WoT experience.
As for Fire and Ice, beware George RR Martin. When book 4 came out with only a few chapters devoted to some of the most interesting characters that already had plot irons in the fire you told fans to rest assured: you'd have the other "half" of the book out in 6 months, it was just being polished by your editor. That was two or three years ago. Since then you have been an editor of co-author of several non-Fire and Ice books.
A month or so ago I looked at your website where the last update Jan 08 where you said it was nearly done and you weren't going to update again until the book was finished. That was in response to questions about your Feb 07 update asking what happend to the next book after nearly 9 months of saying the next book was 6 months away.
I wish I had Stephen Colbert's resources, I'd put you On Notice!
The female characters would better have some extra skills like bitching, stiching and other stuff ending in *itching. Also some animations with braid tugging and skirt straightening. Come to think of it, they might also make the best tanks
Even though the recent books have been lackluster, I'd prefer a Midkemia/Riftwar Online, done similar to Lotro.

The remaining hour will be useless dialog from the 1850s contending that women and men are unable to understand each other or have any serious discussions without pulling on their braids or storming out of the room.
Then 15 new characters will be introduced for absolutly no reason.

They made a game based on this back in the day called Betrayal at Krondor. It was a classic RPG, and I think it was by Sierra. It came with a book version as well written by Feist. (Imagine that - thinking gamers would want to read.)
Anyway, I liked it, and it let you travel all over the different cities and whatnot.
His world would be a good game as well, especially since there are several time periods you could draw from since I think he has written books that expand around 300 years of time.
