Today Capcom released thirty new screenshots from their upcoming brawler Street Fighter 4. Additionally, they've announced that the last fighter making her way into the lineup is none other than Rose.
Couldn't care less about the story. Ryu fights for the challenge, Ken fights to keep up with Ryu, Chun-Li battles her daddy issues.... It's all a huge pile of meh. Akuma had the only story I was really interested in following. (The "SF Alpha: Generations" movie did a really good job fleshing out his backstory.) The gameplay and eye candy is all that's going to matter in this game for me. If they're able to tell a marginally interesting story in the single player mode--well, then that'll just be extra gravy.
As for Rose being added, she was always my least favorite fighter in SFA, although her fireball reflecting move was kind of fun to use against the Hadouken-happy Ryu players. That being said, I'm really disappointed that they failed to bring in ANY of the original characters from the Street Fighter 3 games. I would've really liked to see a few of the unique ones like Hugo, Urien, or Necro. But based on the ones they've selected, it looks like they're mostly pandering to fans of the SF2 series, with a couple new characters thrown in just so they can say they didn't leave the character list completely stale.

I really don't care too much about story aspects, although MK vs DCU showed me that it could be worked into a fighting game in a reasonably well way... other than that I'm pretty darn excited for SF4. I've been on a bit of a fighting game kick over the past few weeks with MKvDCU then SS2THDR... these screens make me even more excited. Its beautiful.
God, I can't wait. SFII HD is excellent and I'm hoping this isn't a letdown.

SF4 has Sakura (she was bound to show up sooner or later...), and now Rose (I wasn't expecting her to be in this game). If they add convict Cody (most recently seen in Street Fighter Alpha 3), I'll have no choice but to buy this game. ...While I'm busy telling them what characters to put in their game, why don't they include Terry Bogard for good measure, or just go ahead and make Capcom vs SNK 3. You know what, why don't they just do both.

I always liked Dan...he was the guy in the pastel gi who hung out in a playground. It cracked me up the first time I saw that in Alpha 3(which is still, hands down, my favorite SF to date.)
Regardless of story or how it plays, at least SF4 is gorgeous. That's one swank looking game.
