All Rock Band DLC Will Be Available to Rock Band 2 Wii Purchasers

Some good news for you white-peripheral rockin' rockers. Rock Band 2 will give you a ton of stuff that 360 and PS3 folks get... including all of the Rock Band DLC. Unfortunately though, it looks like you're going to have to store the songs on your SD card and copy the tracks to your Wii's internal memory to use them (at least for the time being). Nintendo Wii Fanboy has the word:

reassurance comes in the form of an IGN hands-on, in which Mark Bozon specifically states what is in the game and what is different. What compromises do exist are delightfully minor, like the loss of the tattoo and logo editors. Head-to-head online play is there, and online coop World Tour mode is there. Battle of the Bands daily challenges are downloadable.

The biggest news is that all of the DLC tracks from Rock Band, which were not available for download through the first Wii game, will be updated and made available for download in Rock Band 2. And as for the storage issue: it's about what you'd expect. Songs can be saved to SD, but must be copied over to the Wii's memory for play. Allow us at this point to express the extremely unpopular opinion of whatever.
Happy? Sad? Indifferent?

Given that buying a 360 was pushed back again for me, this is absolutely excellent news.

If they announce that the Wii version of rockband and Guitar hero IV can share the same instruments, i'll be set.

On the second note, the fact that songs have to be set over to the Wii memory to be played almost entirely made me lose interest again. My Wii memory is already FULL.

I can't imagine that's an acceptable solution to anyone who actually cares about DLC.

I thought Nintendo made it possible to load off of SD cards already. wasn't there like a big announcement just before TGS?

I thought that solution wouldn't be out till next year.

Actually, this is fine by me. I don't use the SD slot for anything at this time, so I'm fine with dropping a fat SD card in the slot and leaving it there for Rock Band. Ideally their solution would involve a way to move songs in/out from within the game.

I don't have any VC games, so I'm not memory stressed, but I could see where other folks would have issues. How big is one song expected to be ?

Works for me. Instruments can be used for either game, so I think I will pick up Guitar Hero World Tour with instruments, and then just get Rock Band disc and extras.
