The preview also announced a release date for Entrenchment with Ironclad co-founder Blair Frazer announcing that it would become available via Stardock's Impulse client on Nov. 18. As previously reported the micro-expansions will be sold for $9.99 each. The second micro-expansion, which will add some new diplomacy features to the game, should be out two to three months after Entrencement.
I still need to pick up this game, but there's just so many things I need to play...
After playing a few games on single player and with my friend, I got bored out and uninstalled the game.
There have been some patches. Haven't read the release notes but I haven't noticed anything really new added. Just bug fixes and balance mostly. The indie savior of the games indrusty is here. Anyone else remember the promises or anticipation of free content updates or was it all in my mind (or just some other game)? At least I remember the mantra of "they'll add value to the legimate owners of through additional content". Sure didn't expect to pay for it. Rewarding buyers with opportunity to buy more doesn't work that well.
The difficulty of defending your territory/planets was recognized within few days of the initial game release and it took this long to create some new content for it? Enemy fleet passing through a system with maximum static defenses? Expect inflicting 5% losses, if even that. You have a small fleet stationed there in addition to static defenses? Chances are that you still won't deal more than 15% damage to the passing enemy fleet.
As said, haven't played later versions so if anyone knows better, feel free to state how the current gameplay works in this regard. I was dissapointed in both the content and the price of this 'micro-expansion'. From what I've seen of this expansion $5 would've been a more reasonable price and $0 would've been the right price.
I love this type of game. Gave it a fair go but it's not homeworld. Simply, I felt removed from combat. Homeworld 2 was balls hard but once you locked into the right battle plan it was a blast.
Sins just lacked on combat. It became a shopping simulator. Much of the defense stuff was just wasted motion.
