Shacknews has pulled together a couple of PAX interviews, first talking with Valve's Chet Faliszek, talking about the Xbox 360 version of their upcoming co-op zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead.
"I know someone on Shack or Left4Dead411, someone was like, 'Oh you can see they slowed it down on the 360.' Did it seem slower to you? Yeah. We didn't slow it down at all for the 360. Our tech guys, our really smart guys, did a ton of work so that the 360 users see the same things the PC users do.
Everything's the same. When we do split-screen, we do a couple little things just graphically there to smooth things out, but it's still the same speed, same match, same number of zombies.
I've never been a fan of the slip-and-slide movement in Valves games. I'm sure I'll enjoy the fuck out of Left4Dead. I've just always been more comfortable with the slower, more deliberate shooters out there.
PS3: Heavy Rain
PC: Mass Effect 2
PSP: Half Minute Hero
All the cool kids have Xbox Live Silver.
If the way the 360 version of Team Fortress 2 was handled is any indication, this will be a PC purchase for me, no doubt about it.
Valve have said that they wanted to handle the L4D port a lot better than they did the Team Fortress 2 one on 360, hence we'll even see dedicated servers and (hopefully) a quicker release schedule of DLC.
Feed me a stray cat
Of this I am certain. Death shall be swift, and with disturbing regularity.
... and we will relish every moment of it.
The time I was there, a horde looked like it was streaming out of a small cabinet in the wall (really, it was a hole in the wall) - looking like some evil undead clown car. Horrifying and hilarious at the same time.
