Armageddon Empires - post apocalyptic turn-based indie strategy game!
StrategyCore.co.uk sister site The Last Outpost just posted their review of post apocalyptic turn-based indie strategy game Armageddon Empires.

You hear "Each race plays differently." from strategy games more often than women tell you they're a virgin, but this time it's actually true. The factions are appreciably different. The Cthulhurific Xenopods have access to Psi powers that work wonder on biological enemies and enjoy randomly spawning units from dead bodies, the Humans are the all-rounders, the Mutants have no air units but love guerrilla warfare, and the Machines don't need the 'human' resource and have fairly heavyweight forces.
You can read the full review at The Last Outpost. You can also download the demo or buy the full game at Cryptic Comet.
Ah crap, one more indie strategy game to take up my time! Bad enough I've got Dominions 3, UFO Extraterrestrials, and Forge of Freedom on my plate, now you want to add another one!
I will definitely be checking this one out. Can't resist.
Hex-based, post-apocalyptic, turn-based strategy...it's like a Neapolitan of gaming flavors. I've been looking for something different to play, so I'll probably pick this up when I get the chance.

What about the Imperial Guard from WH40K? They're meatbags, but not quite exactly the all-rounder race (in Dawn of War, at least, I can't say the same for the table-top game since I've never touched it).
Really didn't like this and it has everything I should like. Just didn't seem that well thought out at all compared to many other games like this online. It needs a ton more playtesting. Though as the review says the races are indeed different...in the RTS style of catagory silo'ing.

I like Advent Rising, Two Worlds, Hellgate London and Too Human. Sue me.
1. The documentation is pretty bad. Not bad as in poorly written or missing detail, because it's not. I mean bad as in poorly organized.
2. The user interface just plain sucks. Far too many mouse clicks required and most of the dialogs are not very intuitive. It feels like an interface produced by a programmer, not by someone who wants to play a game.
3. I had the game lock up on my laptop in windowed mode (on a Mac).
Still, it looks like fun and it looks very deep. I'll have to think about it and play the demo a few mores times before laying out cash.
I'd be happy if there was support for control-clicking in the Mac version. It seems to be unplayable without a mouse, which is a problem for Mac laptops. I was super stoked that they had a Mac version until I couldn't move me units out of my base. That in and of itself is probably a deal breaker for me.
EDIT: Never mind, I'm an idiot. I thought I created an army, but I actually didn't. Control clicking works after all!
EDIT AGAIN: I should mention that I had emailed Cryptic Comet about it tonight and Vic emailed me back inside of a half hour. That's fucking awesome. I will be purchasing this game as a result.
