Strikeforce Signs to EA MMA
EA continues to add licensed assets to their new MMA game and has signed Strikeforce. See below for a fairly apt description of what that means. Quote:
I don't get EA's strategy for this, its like they're just buying up whatever they can. |
It's just EA buying everything they can, probably panic buying because they clearly lost out on the UFC liecense. The only issue is who outside of the UFC does Joe Casual actually care about?
|
EA clearly missed a trick here. Let the UFC have their realistic game. EA MMA should be about what people WANT MMA fights to be, not what they often are. Make it a Highlight Reel. Ditch the licensed fighters and have a robust character creation system and a roster of archetypes. I am not saying make it into Tekken, but don't just make the exact same game as the UFC but without the name recognition.

Yeah, I think it's a case of htem having annoucned the title and then realizing "oh crap we pissed off the ufc".
Sure they could make a different game but sadly that's not the way these publishers operate. THey take what was successful and clone it for their portfolio. It's hwy Activision and EA have nearly identical portfolios. (Tony Hawk vs. Skate, Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band, Call of Duty vs. Medal of Honor, etc.) |
It's just throwing money at the wall and seeing what sticks. It may be the sign of an ailing corporate structure.

This post reminds me that Fedor is fighting on CBS tonight!

The UFC is so much better at hyping fights/fighters than anybody else - there's plenty of worthy competition elsewhere but nobody presents it properly. It's not even like Zuffa get things perfect. |
