Incognita Interview

Rock Paper Shotgun has a short interview with Klei co-founder Jamie Cheng about his company's newly announced tactical espionage game Incognita.

Quote:

RPS: How exactly does espionage work in a turn-based setting? How is it different from simply positioning your forces and eliminating enemies, ala XCOM or Fire Emblem or others along those lines?

Cheng: Well, were still keeping a lot under wraps right now, but I can say a little. Heres the idea: if you play the new XCOM which is a fucking amazing game its 90 percent positioning. Ten percent information gathering and 90 percent positioning. Its kind of like, I sort of wonder where the enemy is, but if I position myself well, march forward, and re-position myself well, then Ill mostly be fine.

The idea behind Incognita is, we want information to be power. We want information to be a very key part of your experience.

Awesome. Solid studio! They've been rapidly on the rise since Mark of the Ninja.

this is great. Turn based games in my opinion are the best games to play. I like to take my time and strategize. X-com, Xenonauts....

Klei are going from strength to strength.

Jamie actually offered me my first opportunity in the industry when I was in Van when they were starting Eets. I wish I could of stayed.
