Michael Bay Developing Ghost Recon Film

Variety is reporting that Transformers director Michael Bay has been tapped to bring Ubisoft's Ghost Recon franchise to theaters.

Quote:

Michael Bay is ready to go on a covert mission with Ubisoft, signing on to develop “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon” into a potential film franchise at Warner Bros., with an eye to direct.

Project marks the first time Bay has worked with Warner Bros., after previously producing and helming films primarily with Disney, Sony, DreamWorks and Paramount.

The “Ghost Recon” games revolve around a fictional unit of the U.S. Army Special Forces that essentially operates as the President’s private army, using the latest technology to infiltrate and take down threats around the world without leaving any traces behind that they exist.

I'd watch two and half hours of the military scenes from Transformers 1.

I'm in. His movies are fun entertainment.

There's no way it could be worse than the games, right guys?

Came to post just this. First thing popped in my head was the Scorponok desert scene.

Expect no stealth elements!

Hey, Ghost Recon (the original back in 2001) was a great game. You'd be dropped in a giant open area, given a target, and then you were on your own. No scripted corridors or paths. You chose how to approach the target and complete the objective.

It was awesome.

I thought Ghost Recon were pretty.... whatever the opposite of stealthy is... at least in every game I end up blowing up part of a Mexican town.

Michael Bay can develop whatever the fuck movies he wants. I'm not watching them.

I guess I'm the only one playing it, but the free to play Ghost Recon Online is great! It's so much fun.

The only downside is it's in eternal Open Beta, so there is no press on it, and the player base is somewhat small. You can sometimes wait 7 minutes for a match to start. And occasionally you get in with a bunch of pro's, and get rolled. Those matches are extremely frustrating.

However, when you get a good match? The game is fantastic. Ranking up there with my favorite mutliplayer experiences.

I wonder what Hollywood actress he will make the squad leader? Maybe Anne Hathaway?

Actually seems like a good fit for Bay.

President's private army eh? Seems legit.
