Road Redemption - Road Rash Spiritual Successor Kickstarter

Finally, a kickstarter I'm really looking forward to, Road Redemption.

Road Redemption brings modern graphics, physics, A.I., and online play to the classic combat racing formula. We are asking for $160,000 from the community in order to make Road Redemption the game that hardcore gamers everywhere have been dreaming about since 1999.

They need to make SoundGarden a strech goal fo sho'

I have mixed feelings. On one hand the game looks pretty good and they're not asking for very much money compared to some other Kickstarters. On the other hand, the original Road Rash creator has been thinking about starting his own Kickstarter, so this one kind of takes the wind from his sails.

I just donated $15. What did YOU do for the game industry today?

I got the GI a copy of Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury.

Road Redemption does look good. Will buy.

Damn, that looks pretty fun!

I love Road Rash probably more than any other Genesis game. But something doesn't look right with this game.
For 1, there are guns. I don't remember guns. It was all about melee.
For 2, the blood splatter. I don't remember blood splatter. It was all about the comical dismounts.
Is this the right Road Rash Remake?

I fed Gabe Newell a live pig.

Korialstrazs 04-12-2013 04:41 PM

Oh man, best genesis game ever. I'm so on board with this.

if76 04-12-2013 04:50 PM

It says that guns are a minor part of the combat. Mainly they just spice things up and add variety.

I played a bit of Road rash 3 lately, cuz I too loved those old games. Would say it was one of my fav genesis games. But replaying it now is making my eyes bleed. Would love a new one, in fact been saying that since last gen.

I'm not digging this remake but then again Road Rash was just awful, even then. The CGIs and music made those games and I'm not really interested in a "slow" racer focused around gimmicks.

Looks like these guys are going to have some competition from the original Road Rash devs:

Im working on the Kickstarter now. I have some of the original RR team members onboard. I hope to launch the Kickstarter campaign in 30 days.

(Dan Geisler was the co-designer of Road Rash)

Nothing. I did give to charity today, however. Feels great!

bean19 04-13-2013 06:25 AM

Hmm. Competition is a good thing.

If it's not as hysterically over-the-top and riot-fest inducing lunacy as that AMAZINGLY ENTERTAINING game known as Road Rash 64 then no thanks.
