It wasn't exactly a mighty victory, but Jack the Giant Slayer won the weekend at the box office. The Warner Bros. 3D action extravaganza made just $28 million to debut at No. 1. It had a reported budget of just under $200 million.

Yahoo is claiming that the total cost for movie and marketing was $300 million. It has the potential to be one of the biggest bombs in history.

Singer must be glad he's already got xmen in the works. He hasn't had a hit in a while and a stinker like this could kill his career.

I really like Nicholaus Holt as an actor, but I always imagined Jack as a naive teenager. Odd that they'd make the role for a 20-something actor. Maybe they have studies that show that adults will assume a movie is just for kids if it's main protagonist is a teenager.
