You have to use real measurements like attach rate...

I know you are just kidding here, but I often see people bringing up attach rate in "who won" conversations and I think many of them miss the most important point about it.

Attach rate means nothing if you are selling the hardware at a profit.

Attach rate is only important if you are selling hardware at a loss. And even then, retail attach rate (which is the number that's readily available) is even less important know than it's ever been because of digital distribution and microtransactions.

In the case of Nintendo this generation, they didn't need to have as high of an attach rate because they sold their hardware at a profit. Sony and MS needed to sell 2-3 games or more to even break even.

Yeah, upscaling shouldn't really be difficult... still lots of games look pretty bad upscaled. Like, have you ever run an N64 emulator on a PC? It'll render it completely smooth, but it can't add more polys :P Shame if true that they won't do it, but oh well.

Why upscale when you can sell the HD remake?

Now you're thinking like an executive.

Fixed. And Nintendo's old slogan is quite ironic because they just now are getting in step with the PS3 and 360's power this late in the current console gen.

Hey, if it gets gullable gamers to pay for HD versions of old games, it might go down as the most brilliant slogan in all of gaming history (if it ain't already).

I am sure, its all subject to change. I wouldn't hold my breathe that this is the final cut.
