Thanks for the review Bapenguin.

With the demo, this review and other reviews i'm now certain the game isn't worth £49 to me.

Yeah...I'd really like to work out a review scale based on value of the title. Was just talking to Knite and I thought maybe a stock type scale would be a nice addition. I mean...sometimes the game may not be the best of games but it's just plain fun.

So it would be something like:
Must Buy
Buy
Wait/Hold
Sell
Dump

that's a great idea, but it appeals unnervingly to the skinflint in me. i will (of course) be applying my own 'aura of tightness [-3]' to whatever rating you give a title ;) i like the stock analogy, too. very... irreverent :)

I would go with something like:
Must buy
Buy or rent
Rental only
Avoid if possible
Hunt down and kill developer

It's a good idea Bapenguin. I've realised i'm quite picky when it comes to games since the £10 'next gen' increase.

For £49 I want a very very good game.

To me Full Auto wasn't 'OMFG 100 LOLS PER SECOND!!'

Seems like a title to grab off ebay for a few bucks.

at first i thought you meant a title, like lord or baron or something. they should sell those on ebay. in fact... /me goes off to create an ebay shop.

Happy Birthday bapenguin!

I wasn't going to buy this game either way and the review just makes me feel a little bit better about my decision. Thanks for taking the time. While checking out my Bloglines feeds, I came across a fairly funny CAD comic about the game...

Back when the site was just Evil and I, we kicked around the idea of reviews by one person with a general interest, and another person with a taste for the game. So, for instance, a review of a flight sim by a simmer, and someone else willing to play it but maybe wouldn't be so critical, then have two ratings... one for those who are hardcore for that type of game, and one for those who aren't.

But we just didn't have the staff to do it back then, and by the time we did we still couldn't get it together for very long. I think we did a few like that; not many.

As for Full Auto, I like it plenty, though the occasional slowdown when the screen is filling up with debris and explosions and crap flying all around I find irritating. But it only happens occasionally, so i can deal with it.

Full Auto is "okay". It's got many flaws that the developer was either too inexperience to fix or didn't have time. Those things make the game very annoying, like the fact that it takes so long to get to the next race. The loading of Loading Screens is really annoying and breaks the flow, especially on-line. And speaking of on-line, that's really the only reason to have this game. Until something more viceral comes out, it's the best MP blastathon (Burnout oh Burnout, were art thou oh Burnout?).

I'd say pick it up for *cheap* or rent. DO NOT get suckered into paying $65 ($59+tax) for it. Or just wait for Burnout.

$65?! You in Canada Ego?

Burnout will probably be better racing and mayhem, but still... actually having a weapon to unload on somebody and blow them into flaming hunks of metal... that's a good thing. ;)
