View Full Version : Reviewer Hypnotised in Order to Review Game
Buena Vista Games has hypnotised Mark Robbins (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/nid/2303/), Deputy Editor of the Official Xbox Magazine, and age regressed him to a ten year old boy in order to review The Chronicles of Narnia.
"The idea of hypnotising someone into believing they're a ten year old to review a game was so unique that I simply had to get involved, even if it was just to see how it would turn out," commented Mark Robins, Official Xbox Magazine Deputy Editor.

Yeah, 'cause like, noone rated Doom 3 as high as PCG did, haha.
Except for a lot of people. http://www.gametab.com/pc/doom.3/1385/
Yeah gaming press, complain about a real turd of a shooter long after you give it the equivalent of an A or high B, thanks a lot

Ahem, reviews are about more than the final score, silly. Read the review I referred to then think about what I wrote.

Sounds like media hype to me. Hypnosis falls into that gray area between proven science and parlor tricks. Why didn't they convince the reviewer that he was basset hound, so that we can get a basset hound take on the game as well?

Gee, what a lovely marketing gimmick. The company and the reviewer get to sautee in their creative juices as to how clever and unique they are. In other news: who cares about the objective (?) opinion of a game reviewer hypnotized to be a 10 year old? Is that so he can be distracted by bright colours and the "neat" talking Lion.

I think the reviewer would have been better served if they had just performed a lobotomy on him prior to playing the game.

They are trying to decide on how to best interpret the crayon drawings depicting "the big lion attacking the ugly green stick men. look the red stuff is blood."

Wow, the hyped gimmickry in the gaming press is starting to show no bounds!

Yeah, because we ALL want to hear what a 10 year old pissant has to say about the game WE PLAY. Need I mention that we're all a little OLDER than 10 years old and don't give a SHIT what a 10 y/o thinks of our games?

ha, are you really going to play this game? they are aiming for ten year olds, so this seems to make sense.

Some people need no help to mentally regress to the age of a ten year old ;)

Well, I have to say I admire the idea of a 10-year-old reviewing a game made for 10-year-olds, but the implementation is gimmicky and poor. How about this - how about hiring some kids to play the fucking game and watching THEM play it, and then interview them what they thought was easy/difficult?
